WINOOSKI — Jane Galley Connors, 76, of Winooski, died unexpectedly after a very brief illness at Fletcher Allen Health Care on June 3, 2009, surrounded by her family. She was a former Vergennes resident.
She was well known for her love of laughter, movies, music, books and spending time with her family and friends. The seaside was always her favorite place to be and family says her love of steamed lobster is legendary. Seeing her adult children spend time together brought the biggest smile to her face and she got great satisfaction from her work with the Senior Companion Program.
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Sandra Galley of Andover, Mass.; her son Martin Connors of Winooski; her daughter Christine Connors of England; her daughter and son-in-law, Michelle (Connors) and Stephen Place of Fletcher; her longtime friend and companion, Al Walskey of West Berkshire; five grandchildren; and many close friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Howard E. and Viola Galley of Andover, Mass., and her brother Howard Galley of Jersey City, N.J.
As per her wishes there will be no funeral service.
NEW HAVEN/NORTH FERRISBURGH — Lula (O’Bryan) Chamberlain, 87, died June 10, 2009.
She was born May 3, 1922, in Bristol, a twin daughter to Ralph and Era O’Bryan. She graduated from Bristol High School in 1940 and then married the love of her life, Harold Chamberlain, on July 13, 1940, in Vergennes.
She worked at the Dog Team Tavern, Van Raalte in Bristol and later at Simmonds Precision in Vergennes. She and her husband raised their family in New Haven. During retirement they had a cottage at Long Point in Ferrisburgh and later settled in Marietta, Ga.
Relatives say Lula will be remembered for her sweetness and for always having homemade goodies for her family and friends when they stopped by. She enjoyed picking berries and wildflowers and gardening and family says she had the prettiest flowers on the block.
She is survived by three children, Edwin Chamberlain and his wife Diane of Marietta, Ga., Harold “Fred” Chamberlain and Susan Robbins of Burlington, and Mary Shaw and her husband “Butch” of Florence; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; a brother, Vern O’Bryan; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Harold, in 2008; daughters, Jane in 2008 and Lorraine in 1944; one great-grandchild; and five brothers and sisters.
