WILLISTON — Claire A. Aube, 81, of Williston died at home on July 7, 2009, after an unexpected illness.
She was born Aug. 12, 1927, in Acton Vale, Quebec, Canada.
She is survived by nine children, daughter Dianne Sasso and husband Phil of Colorado, daughter Marie Narus and husband Richard of Connecticut, son Leonard Aube and wife Marlene of Virginia, daughter Theresa Bent and husband Vince of Vermont, daughter Janice Luchetti of Colorado, daughter Jane Chacon and husband Harold of Colorado, son John Aube and wife Leanora of Utah, daughter Linda Kirkpatrick and husband Bill of Vermont, and daughter Lena Estabrook and husband Paul of Vermont; 18 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Conrad L. Aube, in 2002.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 11, at St. Mary’s Church in Middlebury, with burial following.
MIDDLEBURY — Dennis R. Charron, 64, died peacefully Thursday, July 2, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born May 22, 1945, in Middlebury, the son of the late Lucien and Estelle (Gibeault) Charron, he was raised on the family farm in Cornwall.
He was co-owner of Goodro Lumber Co. in East Middlebury.
Family says he enjoyed hunting, bird watching, NASCAR and working with his Kubota tractor.
He is survived by his wife, Linda (Dragon) Charron; his two children, Joseph Charron and Michele Duncan; two grandchildren; his sisters, Jeanette Wood, Regina Bigelow, Louise Bertrand and Connie Cone; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister, Claudette Quenneville, and his brother, Richard Charron.
Per his wishes, there will be no public services. A private service will be held by the family.

BRANDON — Pearl Alice LaFrance, 87, died Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at the home of her care provider in New Haven.
She was born in Pittsford on Feb. 4, 1922. She was the daughter of Fred and Olivia (Swenson) LaFrance. She was a lifelong resident of Brandon and a member of the 1940 graduating class of Brandon High School.
She graduated with the class of 1944 from the Rutland Hospital School of Nursing and worked more than 30 years as a registered nurse at the Rutland Hospital. She also did private duty nursing for several years. She retired in 1984.
Friends say she was an avid skier for many years and enjoyed traveling and playing cards. Since 1979, she spent winters at Holmes Beach and Bradenton, Fla. She returned to her home in Brandon for the summer months.
She was a member of the American Nurses Association and the VFW Post 648 Ladies Auxiliary in Rutland. She was a member of the Roser Community Church in Holmes Beach, Fla., and of the Forest Dale Wesleyan Church.
She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by five brothers, Lawrence, Morris, John, Emerson and Paul LaFrance.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2009, at 2 p.m., at the Forest Dale Wesleyan Church. The Rev. John McDonald, pastor, will officiate. The graveside committal service and burial will follow, in the family lot, at Forest Dale Cemetery.
Following the committal service the family will receive friends in the church hall, for a time of fellowship and remembrance.
There are no public calling hours.

MIDDLEBURY — Ethelyn C. (Pat) Martino, 93, died Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury.
She was born Feb. 6, 1916, in Bristol, the daughter of Archie and Myra (Wilcox) Dike.
She graduated from UVM and Albany Business School. She was a model for Dentyne Gum. She worked for New York State Thruway for 25 years, and as a court stenographer for Albany, N.Y., for five years. She retired and moved back to Vermont in 1980.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Middlebury and Middlebury Fitness. Family says she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, George Martino of Middlebury; three children, Carolyn Ferrari and husband Anthony of California, Joyce Sohotra of Middlebury, and Michael Martino and wife Debbie of Albany, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Clifton Dike of Bristol; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Middlebury. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Bristol. Friends may call at Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Bristol on Friday, July 10, from 6 to 8 p.m.

CASTLETON — Garland William Prieur, 81, died Thursday evening, Feb. 19, 2009, at Rutland Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born in Rutland Sept. 22, 1927, he was the son of the late Peter and Florence (Crandall) Prieur.
He grew up in Salisbury and was a graduate of Middlebury High School.
A veteran, he served in the United States Navy during WW II and received the American Theater Medal and Victory Medal.
Family says he was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed making maple syrup.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 50 of Castleton.
Survivors include his companion of many years, Dorothy Buckman of Castleton; his sons, Garland W. Prieur and Glenn Prieur, both of Memphis, Tenn.; his sister, Darlyn Martin of Bradford, Pa.; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Carol Goodrich and Donna June Prieur.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at 10 a.m. in West Salisbury Cemetery.
