Solar house placement hits zoning roadbump

THE MIDDLEBURY COLLEGE Solar Decathlon house will head to Washington, D.C., for a Department of Energy competition this fall, and when it returns the college has proposed placing it adjacent to Chipman Park. Neighbors opposed to the placement have cited a 2002 planning commission decision that provides them with a buffer from the college.

MIDDLEBURY — As construction on the Middlebury College Solar Decathlon house continues, its ultimate resting place has come under scrutiny by the town’s Development Review Board and residents of the Chipman Park neighborhood.
