Middlebury Police Log: Man cited for domestic assault

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police cited Padraic M. Mulcahy, 23, of Leicester for domestic assault and unlawful restraint, following an incident on Route 30 on March 15. A witness told police she had seen a man force a woman into a vehicle he encountered on Route 30 in Cornwall. Police tracked down the vehicle in Middlebury and arrested Mulcahy.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

•  Assisted a local man who reported receiving unwanted phone calls on March 12.

•  Investigated a reported hit-and-run accident involving two vehicles in the Hannaford Supermarket parking lot on March 12.

•  Served a no-trespass order on a local man on March 12.

•  Were informed on March 13 that a Middlebury Union High School male student had allegedly pulled down the shirt of a Middlebury Union Middle School female student at the Addison Central Teens center on South Main Street. Police continue to investigate the incident.

•  Received a report on March 12 about two Middlebury College female students being approached by a middle-aged man who asked where he could “meet some girls.” The man is described as being 5 feet, 10 inches tall, chubby, balding with short brown hair, and was wearing a striped sweater.

•  Were informed on March 13 that an MUHS student had been caught stealing from the school cafeteria.

•  Responded to a dispute between two Airport Road residents on March 13.

•  Cited a juvenile female with domestic assault following an alleged incident at a Monarch Court residence on March 14.

•  Heard from a local woman who alleged that someone had stolen medicine from her purse on March 15.

•  Assisted a local man who alleged on March 15 he had been given three bad checks totaling $270.

•  Responded to a trespassing complaint at Maplefields on North Pleasant Street on March 15.

•  Responded to a reported fight between two girls on the MUHS campus on March 15.

•  Cited Carlos M. Nakamuara, 22, of Rutland for possession of marijuana, following an investigation of three youths congregating beneath the Cross Street Bridge on March 15.

•  Responded to a noise complaint at a North Pleasant Street residence on March 17.

•  Responded to a trespassing complaint at a Water Street residence on March 17.

•  Cited William H. Letters, 57, of Whiting for driving under the influence on South Main Street on March 17. Police said Letters declined to provide an evidentiary sample to determine his blood alcohol content.

•  Investigated a loitering complaint at the Marble Works condominium building on Maple Street on March 17.

•  Found a young woman laying on the ground in St. Mary’s Cemetery off Hillcrest Road on March 17. Police said the woman faces disciplinary action for underage drinking.

•  Served a no-trespass order on a man who had created a disturbance at Two Brothers Tavern on Main Street on March 13.

•  Responded to a family dispute at a Jackson Lane residence on March 18.

•  Investigated a trespassing complaint at Pike’s gravel pit off Case Street. Police said five people were shooting target practice there without the owner’s consent. Police said that they would be cited for trespassing if they came back without the owner’s permission.
