MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury Union High School dance squad settled for three second-place finishes when the Tigers hosted six other teams on Friday in their Midd Winters Night Dream Dance Competition.

The Tigers were second overall to Lamoille for the second straight competition, second in the pom competition as they performed their pom routine for the first time this winter, and second in the hip-hop category for the first time this winter after winning that event at two earlier competitions.

Lamoille continued its strong season, edging the Tigers overall, 455-437.5. Lamoille prevailed over the Tigers in hip-hop, 247-229.5, and finished second to South Burlington in jazz, 240-208. The Tigers trailed Colchester in pom, 233-218.

South Burlington did not compete in either pom or hip-hop and did not score in the overall, nor did Long Trail, which finished last in pom, its only event.

Colchester, which was first in pom and fourth in hip-hop, was third overall (397.5), followed by Mount Mansfield (391) and Burr & Burton (353.5).
