MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police on Feb. 3 assisted a Court Street resident who said that her boyfriend had broken things in their apartment and had thrown himself down the stairs. The man agreed to leave the apartment and was taken by police to a relative’s home. The woman reported later that the man was texting her. Police said they found him on Court Street and took him back to his relative’s home.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

•  Responded to a noise complaint in the Court Street area on Jan. 29. A neighbor reported a tenant yelling and screaming in an upstairs apartment. The tenant agreed to keep his talking to a minimum.

•  Responded to a report of a dispute between two Case Street neighbors on Jan. 29.

•  Received a report from a Case Street resident who alleged a male neighbor was harassing her by phone and banging on her door and windows on Jan. 29. Meanwhile, the male neighbor reported excessive noise coming from the caller’s apartment for a third consecutive night. Police determined the caller and a male friend had been conversing loudly.

•  Investigated a trespassing complaint on Boardman Street on Jan. 29. Police said a property owner had found evidence suggesting a trespasser had been camping there. The property owner signed a trespass order that will be served on the person if he or she returns.

•  Investigated a noise complaint in the South Village Green neighborhood on Jan. 30. Police said several people in the parking garage were speaking loudly. Police located several juvenile skateboarders in the garage trying to stay dry.

•  Responded to a noise complaint in the Valley View neighborhood on Jan. 30.

•  Were informed of the alleged theft of some medication from a Route 7 South motel room on Jan. 30.

•  Investigated an alleged burglary in the Commodore Way area on Jan. 30. The victim reported her MacBook Pro laptop missing from her residence. A check of the area showed no footprints around the residence or any indications of forced entry into residence, according to police.

•  Ticketed an underage male for using a fake identification card while trying to buy alcohol at a Court Street Extension store on Jan. 31.

•  Investigated a burglary at a Washington Street Extension apartment on Jan. 31. Police said stolen items included a pink Taurus .380-caliber pistol and two empty magazines, as well as a canvas case.

•  Responded to a reported domestic disturbance at a Seminary Street residence on Jan. 31.

•  Served Court Diversion Program paperwork on two underage males for being minors in possession of alcohol on Jan. 31.

•  Served no-trespass orders on two men who were not wanted on the Middlebury College campus on Feb. 1.      

•  Cited Justin R. Schroeder, 31, of Middlebury for retail theft after he allegedly left Shaw’s Supermarket on Washington Street without paying for $83 in merchandise.

•  Ticketed a youth for being a minor in possession of tobacco on the Middlebury Union High School campus on Feb. 1.

•  Served a no trespass order on Feb. 1 on a person who was not wanted at a Boardman Street residence.

•  Were informed of the theft of some items from a self-storage rental unit off Ossie Road in East Middlebury on Feb. 2.

•  Moved along two intoxicated men who had been “play fighting” in front of Two Brothers Tavern on Feb. 2.

•  Warned a man seen with an open container of alcohol on Shannon Street on Feb. 2.

•  Warned a drunken man who was hitting street signs on College Street on Feb. 2.

•  Assisted an emotionally distraught man who told authorities there were people downstairs in his building plotting to take him away on Feb. 2.

•  Ordered a man to return to the store beer that he had purchased and placed in a vehicle being operated by an underage person on Court Street Extension on Feb. 3.

•  Responded to a report that someone had allegedly shot themselves in a Cross Street apartment building on Feb. 3. Police quickly determined no one had been shot and got counseling assistance for the person who had made the false report.

•  Requested help from a police dog from Vergennes in finding a 34-year-old woman reported missing from the Middle Road area on Feb. 3. Police said the woman returned prior to the dog arriving.

•  Investigated a report of a clerk yelling at customers and “flipping out” at the Champlain Farms store on Court Street on Feb. 4. The store manager requested that a no-trespass order be served on the clerk.
