MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police on Oct. 26 learned about multiple local individuals and businesses that had received calls from an alleged Green Mountain Power worker who had told the people he was calling they needed to pay the unresolved balance on their accounts immediately or their power would be turned off. Investigation revealed Green Mountain Power did not place the calls.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

•  Responded to a domestic dispute at a Seminary Street residence on Oct. 21.

•  Received a report about a “skinny male in his 30s” hanging around the Kinney Drugs parking lot off Court Street on Oct. 21, attempting to buy pain pills.

• Received a report on Oct. 21 from a Middlebury Union Middle School official about three students allegedly involved in a  Facebook exchange that involved the use of obscene language.

•  Investigated a report of shots fired in the Peterson Terrace area on Oct. 21. Police could not find a source for the alleged shots.

•  Received a report that someone had stolen an outdoor rack of clothes from Middlebury Mountaineer shop on Park Street on Oct. 21.

•  Responded to a report of someone slashing tires on a vehicle parked at a Jackson Lane apartment on Oct. 21.

•  Responded to a noise complaint in the Woodland Park neighborhood on Oct. 22.

•  Were informed of the theft of some cash from a local woman’s pocketbook on Oct. 22.

•  Were made aware on Oct. 22 of a post on a Middlebury Union High School student’s Facebook page allegedly offering Adderall.

•  Were informed that a carload of people had allegedly harassed a juvenile on Court Street Extension on Oct. 23.

•  Responded to a trespassing complaint in the Elm Street area on Oct. 23.

•  Received a complaint about a barking dog in the Foster Circle neighborhood on Oct. 23.

•  Investigated a truancy complaint at MUHS on Oct. 23.

•  Warned a man for violating the town’s open container ordinance on Weybridge Street on Oct. 24.

•  Assisted rescue officials with a drunken patient at the Blue Spruce Motel on Route 7 South on Oct. 24.

•  Received a report of someone slashing the tires of a vehicle parked in the Leno Lane area on Oct. 25. Police said the victim believes he might know who the culprits are, and the matter remains under investigation.

•  Were informed of a fight between two teens at the MUHS football game on Oct. 25. Police said school officials handled the matter internally.

•  Were informed of the possible theft of a pull-saw from an East Main Street residence on Oct. 25.

•  Received a report that a purse had been stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked at the Charter House off North Pleasant Street on Oct. 25.

•  Were informed of the theft of a cell phone from an unlocked vehicle parked at Shaw’s Supermarket off Washington Street on Oct. 25.

•  Found an MUHS student to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana and related paraphernalia on school grounds on Oct. 25.

•  Ticketed a youth who had used a fake identification card to try to buy alcohol at a Court Street business on Oct. 26.

•  Investigated a burglary from an Airport Road garage on Oct. 26. Police said someone smashed in the garage door to steal several items.

•  Were informed that someone had stolen a welder from a Case Street business on Oct. 26.

•  Assisted a Weybridge resident who claimed to have been receiving harassing messages from a Middlebury resident on Oct. 26.

•  Assisted a Cobble Road resident who had been receiving harassing phone calls on Oct. 26.

•  Located a drunken man dancing off of Route 7 South during the early morning of Oct. 26. Police said the man was not extremely drunk and lived very close to where he was dancing.

•  Took into protective custody a drunken youth who was wandering around the Shannon Street area on Oct. 26. Police found a sober person to take him in for the night.

•  Responded to a report of possible gunshots fired in the South Street Extension area on Oct. 27. Police found no shooter and suspected the noise came from the slamming of dump truck tailgates on nearby Middlebury College campus.

•  Investigated a dispute on Oct. 27 between some Case Street neighbors regarding the cutting of some bushes on a property line.

•  Responded, with rescue officials, to a Munson Road residence to tend to a woman who had allegedly overdosed on some medication on Oct. 27.

•  Warned some Main Street residents to shut down their loud party on Oct. 27.
