ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police responded to a motor vehicle crash on Route 125 in Hancock, about a half mile west of Route 100, at a little past 5:30 a.m. on July 17.

State police report that John C. Thomas, 29, of Charlotte was behind the wheel of a 2004 Ford Ranger pickup that left the roadway and rolled over into the Hancock Branch of the White River. Fire and emergency medical services responded to the scene to find a Thomas trapped inside the vehicle. Thomas was freed from the truck and taken to Gifford Medical Center in Randolph for treatment of non-life-threatening lacerations and contusions.

His truck sustained substantial damage to its front end, frame and roof.

Thomas told EMS personnel that he was sleepy while driving to a job site in Rochester. Police said it was foggy, and the road was dry.

In other recent activity, state police troopers:

•  On July 11 at approximately 11:10 a.m. stopped Brent Bordeaux, 37, of Monkton and cited him for driving with a criminally suspended license on States Prison Hollow Road in Monkton.

•  On July 16 were called to investigate a fraud complaint at Pratt’s Store in Bridport. Trooper Justin Busby said his investigation showed that Jeffery Preseau, 36, of Addison had told a clerk at the store that he had “130 in bottles” to be redeemed and the clerk paid him $130 and he never told the clerk she had misunderstood him. The trooper said he found that Preseau had driven to and from the store from a work site in Bridport although he had a suspended license. Busby cited Preseau for fraud and two counts of driving with a criminally suspended license. State police said they also recovered a firearm from Preseau, who has been convicted of a federal felony. The trooper said he was forwarding information to the Burlington office of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms for investigation of the case as a felon in possession of a firearm.

•  On July 17 at 5:46 p.m. responded to a two-vehicle crash on Quarry Road in New Haven. Police said that 18-year-old Gabrielle N. Schlein of New Haven failed to yield while making a right turn onto Quarry Road from a private driveway. A trooper reported that Schlein’s 2006 Subaru Legacy struck a 2013 Chevy EQX driven by April L. Muratorri, 39, of New Haven, which was eastbound on Quarry Road. Both vehicles sustained moderate contact damage and Schlein sustained minor injuries. No charges were filed.

•  On July 18 at 9:15 p.m. were called to Panton Road in Panton for a reported citizen dispute. Police said their investigation showed that Jeffery Brown, 50, of Panton had assaulted his significant other. They took Brown into custody and cited him for domestic assault.

•  On July 19 at 8:50 a.m. stopped two vehicles for speeding on Route 22A in Shoreham north of Brown Road. Police report that two Subaru WRXs — driven by Samuel Ramey, 24, of Salisbury and Robin Hrynyszyn, 23, of Cornwall — were seen at a high rate of speed southbound on 22A passing an unrelated vehicle. The trooper reported that the Subarus were traveling 91 mph in a 50 mph zone, and he cited Ramey and Hrynyszyn for speeding.

•  On July 19 were called to an East Road residence in Ferrisburgh, where the homeowner reported that two 75-foot, commercial-grade, gray hoses were stolen from outside of her residence sometime between July 16 and 19. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the VSP at 388-4919. Information can also be submitted online at www.vtips.info or by texting “CRIMES” (274637) to Keyword: VTIPS.

•  On July 19 at 4:26 p.m. responded to a one-car crash on Route 7 in Leicester near the Leicester Service Center. The vehicle was traveling northbound and crossed the centerline and traveled off the west side of the roadway for a considerable distance before hitting a driveway causing the vehicle to go airborne before coming to rest. The driver, 29-year-old Abbi Lengyel of East Middlebury, was transported to Porter Medical Center for evaluation of neck and back pain.

Investigation indicated Lengyel was impaired at the time of the crash, and a police drug recognition expert screened her for being under the influence of drugs, potentially her prescription. State police are awaiting blood test lab results to make a final determination. Lengyel was issued a citation to appear in Addison Superior Court, criminal division, to answer the charge of driving under the influence.

•  On July 20 at 12:54 a.m. looked into a report of a vehicle off the road in a culvert off Route 7 in Waltham. Police cited Justin M. Bristol, 33, of Burlington for driving under the influence of alcohol.

•  On July 22 at 12:35 a.m. responded to a complaint about a fire at a fishing access spot off Route 125 in Addison. Upon arrival, troopers found multiple juveniles, some who had consumed alcohol. Preliminary breath tests were administered to all subjects at the party. The trooper cited Christopher J. Thompson, 21, of Bridport for furnishing alcohol to minors. The juveniles who had consumed alcohol were released to their parents, and the Addison Fire Department was called and put out the fire.
