LINCOLN — Lincoln Library has planned a slate of programs and workshops for the month of February that are targeted at both children and adults.

An adult coloring program, titled “Color Your World,” is on Wednesday, Feb. 10, from 1-2 p.m. A selection of colored pencils will be available, or participants may bring their own. Cynthia Kling will lead this fun and informative event. She will talk a bit about color and the color wheel and then distribute pages for people to color.

Sonia DeYoung will present a slideshow and talk, titled “Riverwalk,” on Wednesday, Feb. 17, at 7 p.m. In July, DeYoung walked the length of the New Haven River from headwaters to confluence — about 25 miles. Over six days she met watershed residents of all ages and professions. They told her about their lives along the river, invited her into their homes, and opened her eyes to the many ways a river can move us. She’ll share her stories from the experience and how it has influenced her approach to life.

The Lincoln Library Caregiver Group meets on Friday, Feb. 19, from 1-2 p.m. This support group is for anyone who is caring for another person, long distance or close by. By sharing with each other, the caregivers find ways to care for themselves.

“Mid-Winter Crafts for Kids with Betsy” in on Wednesday, Feb. 24, from 3:15-4:15 p.m. Children can make an oversized snowman or snowflakes from paper. Materials will be provided. Sign up by Friday, Feb. 12.

The library will a “Meet the Candidates” night on Wednesday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m. in the Adult Reading Area. Mark Mulqueen will host a roundtable introduction of local folks who are running for office in Lincoln. Residents are invited to put faces to names that will be on their ballots.

Also on Wednesday, Feb. 24, the library’s monthly book discussion group will meet at 7 p.m. in the Community Room. The group will be discussing “The Thing About December” by Donal Ryan. This book was a finalist for the Irish Book Awards and was the 2012 Irish Book of the Year.

And finally, the very popular “Things Come Apart: A Maker Program” event is happening again, this time on Saturday, Feb. 27, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Bob Lang and Mark Mulqueen will be on hand to help children and their parents, grandparents, etc., to take apart machines such as remotes, pencil sharpeners, coffee makers and more. Organizers only have room for nine more children, so families are advised sign up early or get on the waiting list. Sign up by Friday, Feb. 12.

To sign up for any of these programs or get more information, call the library at 453-2665 or email Debi at [email protected].
