BRISTOL — On Saturday, July 8, Bristol police arrested Ryan L’Heureux, 28, of Bristol and cited him for lewd and lascivious conduct.

At approximately 7:39 p.m. that day, Bristol police received a complaint that a 13-year-old girl had been grabbed on her rear end by a male stranger while she was shopping with a family member at a Bristol business.

Bristol police on Monday said they were not able to release the name of the business while still investigating.

Police said that so far they had discovered the male stranger who had grabbed the girl was on duty as an employee of the business and that after grabbing her the first time he had then followed her around the store and grabbed her rear end a second time.

The young woman provided a description of L’Heureux and subsequently identified him at the store.

L’Heureux was taken into custody without incident and processed at the Bristol Police Department. He was released pending arraignment.

In other action June 26 through July 2, Bristol police:

•  Reported that on June 25 an off-duty Bristol police officer observed Alara Bourgeois operating a motor vehicle on West and Maple streets. On June 27 Bristol police cited Bourgeois for driving with a criminally suspended license.

•  Responded to an alarm on Maple Street on June 26.

•  Received a report of a lost wallet on June 26. Police will notify the owner once the wallet is turned in.

•  Assisted the Department for Children and Families on June 26 with removing a juvenile from a district residence after a judge ordered the child into DCF custody. The child was removed and transported to a DCF-approved location without major incident.

•  Responded to Church Street for a report of a disoriented-seeming elderly man with a cane, who was walking in the road.  Police gave the man a ride back to his residence.

•  Checked security at Mount Abraham Union High School on June 26.

•  Attended a department-wide training at the Bristol police station on June 27.

•  Completed a record check on a woman seeking employment with the Portland (Oregon) Police Bureau on June 28.

•  Attended the Masons’ Ted Pilon Memorial Barbeque on June 28. This year’s event honored the Bristol Police Department and its service to the community. Police had equipment on display and Officer Jori Fairbanks led a K9 demonstration, along with Vermont State Police troopers Justin Busby and Rob Johnson.

•  Conducted foot patrol from the town park to the police station on June 28.

•  Conducted 30 minutes of traffic enforcement at Daniel’s Four Corner on June 28. No violations were observed.

•  Helped look for an 18-year-old man on June 29. Police were notified at 1:07 a.m. that the man had not been seen since 5 p.m. the previous evening and had not been answering his cell phone.

•  Completed foot patrol on Main Street and in the surrounding areas on June 29.

•  Responded to a reported noise and possible domestic disturbance at a Plank Road apartment on June 30. Officers arrived and found that several people in the apartment had been drinking extensively. Police identified all persons involved and warned them for noise in the nighttime.

•  Received, on June 30 at 8:49 a.m., a report of hundreds of dollars’ worth of tools stolen from the Bristol Village Cohousing construction site. Police believe an unknown person entered the site between 3:35 p.m., June 29, and 6:30 a.m., June 30. No suspects have been identified.

•  Chief Kevin Gibbs arrested the “Villain” at the Bristol Recreation Department “Super Hero Camp” on June 30. Super heroes subdued the villain, and Chief Gibbs arrived to hand cuff and escort the villain from the building.

•  Initiated a traffic stop after learning that the operator of the vehicle had no valid driver’s license. During the traffic stop, police developed probable cause for marijuana possession within the vehicle and a consent search was granted.  Police recovered a small amount of marijuana in a pipe between the driver’s seat and center console. The vehicle was towed from the scene, as the driver had no license and the vehicle was not insured.

•  Received a debit card found in the automated teller at the National Bank of Middlebury on Main Street on July 2. After attempts to contact the owner were not successful, police destroyed the card at the request of the credit card company.
