MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police responded to two separate car-versus-motorcycle accidents, with injuries, on Aug. 6.

The first accident occurred at the intersection of Ossie Road and Route 7 in Middlebury. Police said a vehicle driven by 72-year-old David Williams of Bristol collided with the back-end of a motorcycle driven by James Perry, 65, of Hudson, Mass. Police said a woman riding on the back of the motorcycle — Beth Ellen Ogden, 49, of Marlborough, Mass. — was taken to Porter Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The second accident took place on Route 30, just short of the Cornwall town line. Police said a motorcycle driven by Cody Greene, 24, of Bristol collided with the left rear of a vehicle being driven by Carole Mariani, 74, of Suffern, N.Y. Greene was taken to Porter Hospital by Middlebury Regional EMS, and then to UVM Medical Center in Burlington for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.

Police said Mariani was also taken to Porter Hospital, and the accident remains under investigation.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

•  Helped a disoriented man found on Court Street during the evening of Aug. 1. Police said Middlebury Regional EMS took the man to Porter Hospital.

•  Responded to a call regarding an injured fox on Weybridge Street on Aug. 1.

•  Investigated the report of a man on a bike drinking beer and panhandling on Lodge Road on Aug. 1.

•  Responded to a reported verbal domestic dispute on Aug. 1 involving a Woodbridge Lane couple.

•  Heard from the employees of a North Pleasant Street business that someone had allegedly left a used needle and drug baggie in their restroom on Aug. 2.

•  Were informed by Middlebury College Public Safety of a possible online fraud case on Aug. 2.

•  Investigated a report of someone allegedly getting into the Mary Hogan School through an unlocked door on Aug. 2 and ransacking two classrooms. Police did not report anything missing from the classrooms.

•  Investigated a dispute between some Washington Street neighbors on Aug. 2.

•  Investigated a dispute between some Briarwood Apartments residents on Aug. 2.

•  Mobilized the Middlebury Fire Department water rescue team to find a local juvenile who had gone canoeing in the Otter Creek after an argument with a parent on Aug. 2. Police said the parent was concerned the child had minimal swimming skills and no life vest. Rescue team members found the juvenile, who was safely retuned to the shore. Counseling Service of Addison County officials were asked to interview the child.

•  Assisted Middlebury firefighters at the scene of an Aug. 2 house fire off Route 116, just north of Leno Lane. Middlebury fire Chief Dave Shaw said the fire destroyed the rear portion of the home, including the garage, and claimed the life of a pet dog. He said the front portion of the home sustained substantial heat and smoke damage, but is likely salvageable. The fire originated in the garage area, but the exact cause has yet to be confirmed, according to Shaw.

•  Were informed of the theft of a bike from the porch of a Seminary Street residence on Aug. 2. Police reported the bike found later that day near the Hannaford Supermarket.

•  Were informed on Aug. 3 that a recently fired employee of a Route 7 South business had allegedly taken some items that didn’t belong to him.

•  Cited Isaiah K. Webb, 37, of Brandon for driving under the influence on Fenn Farm Lane on Aug. 4. Police said Webb declined a roadside breath test and he was lodged that evening at the Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility.

•  Investigated a report of a man chasing a woman on Route 7 North on Aug. 4.

•  Returned, to its owner, a vehicle that a local juvenile had allegedly borrowed on Aug. 4 with permission.

•  Went to the Forest Ridge Drive home of a woman who had allegedly threatened to harm herself on Aug. 4.

•  Responded to the intersection of Washington Street and Court Square on a report of power lines on fire during the afternoon of Aug. 4.

•  Served court diversion paperwork on a minor who was allegedly trying to buy alcohol at a Court Street business using a fake identification card on Aug. 5.

•  Assisted the Shelburne Police Department with a drunken driving investigation on Aug. 5.
