BRISTOL — On Sept. 21 at 9:50 p.m. Bristol police were called to assist Vermont State Police with a reported traffic hazard of cows in the roadway on Burpee and Plank roads.

Upon the arrival, the Bristol officer found that farm hands had rounded up the cows and removed them from the road.

In other activity between Sept. 11 and 24, Bristol police:

•  Conducted 25 foot patrols on Main Street and in the surrounding area, on almost every day, at multiple times of day, including morning, afternoon and evening. Police found businesses unsecured on five occasions and took steps to secure them.

•  Completed fingerprint requests for more 60 persons — including 33 people applying for volunteer positions on Sept. 21.

•  Conducted security checks of Mount Abraham Union High School on Sept. 11, 12, 13, 14, 18, 20, 21, 23 and 24.

•  Began investigating, on Sept. 11, a juvenile issue that resulted in an assault at a police district residence.

•  Received a complaint from a school bus driver, on Sept. 12 at 3:03 p.m., of a vehicle passing a stopped school bus with red lights on earlier in the day. Police are following up.

•  Provided guest instruction at a Montpelier training on the financial abuse of vulnerable adults, on Sept. 13.

•  Assisted another law enforcement agency with a forensic investigation of a cell phone on Sept. 14.

•  Collected information on Sept. 15, from a person who stopped at the station to report an accident that took place Sept. 9.

•  Provided security at an MAUHS football game on Sept. 15.

•  Calmed a Sept. 15 dispute between two parties taking place via electronic communications.

•  On Sept. 16 advised a person in the town park after dark of park hours.

•  Received a dog found in the roadway on River Road on Sept. 16. Police located the owner, and the dog was returned.

•  Assisted the Bristol Rescue Squad with a person being transported to the hospital on Sept. 17.

•  Responded to West Pleasant Street to help a woman reported as lying in the road, unconscious at 8:10 p.m. on Sept. 17. The rescue squad took the person to the emergency room.

•  Responded to East Street for a vehicle parked and left running and unattended for around 10 minutes on Sept. 18 at 6:09 p.m. The vehicle left before the officer arrived.

•  Investigated a report of kids shooting airsoft pellets at a trailer, on Sept. 18 around 8 p.m. Police found no one in the area. A check of the trailer revealed no damage.

•  Investigated a reported suspicious item in the garden at the town park on Sept. 19. The object was identified as part of a treasure hunt.

•  Issued tickets for a number of vehicles parked in the MAUHS fire lane on Sept 19.

•  Received a complaint from a Dunwright Taxi driver on Sept. 19 at 8:50 p.m. that a woman had failed to pay fare for a ride from South Burlington to Bristol. Police cited Mirabai Verner-Lust, 29, of Lincoln for theft of service and for resisting arrest. She was lodged at the correctional center in South Burlington for lack of $250 bail.

•  Responded to an alarm at a police district business on Sept. 20 at 12:29 a.m. The alarm had been activated accidentally.

•  Assisted the rescue squad with a person with dementia who had been hallucinating and being aggressive on Sept. 21. The person was transported to the hospital for evaluation.

•  Helped resolve a custodial dispute at a Bristol residence on Sept. 22.

•  Took a report on Sept. 21 at 5:05 p.m., of a driver who had earlier left the scene of motor vehicle accident in the Shaw’s parking lot.

•  Conducted a welfare check, together with state police, in response to a concerned citizen on Sept. 22. Contact was made and no action was taken.

•  Completed a webinar training on internet-related topics on Sept. 22.

•  Provided security at the soccer jamboree on Sept. 23.

•  At the request of state police, responded to a report of two gun shots at Broadview Estates on Sept. 23 at 8:25 p.m. Investigation showed the sounds were caused by fireworks not gunshots.

•  Assisted Vermont State Police at a Starksboro residence with a reported altercation on Sept. 23 at 11:38 p.m.

•  Spoke with a non-police district resident about a child custodial issue on Sept. 24.
