BRISTOL — Bristol police last week cited Rebecca Irene Freegard, 27, of Bristol for embezzlement.

The Bristol Champlain Farms gas station contacted Bristol police in September with a report that money had been stolen from the West Street business. Police determined that Freegard, an employee, had been converting the business’s money to her own personal use.

In all, $11,880 was taken.

On Oct. 10 police took Freegard into custody, processed her at the Bristol police station, and released her with a citation to answer the charge in Addison Superior Court, Criminal Division, at a later date.

In other activity between Oct. 2 and 10, Bristol police:

•  Completed foot patrols on Main Street and in the surrounding area on Oct. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 9. Police patrolled twice daily on Oct. 3 and 9, and conducted three patrols on Oct. 6.

•  Conducted security checks of Mount Abraham Union High School on Oct. 3, 4, 5 and 9 — twice on Oct. 3 and 9.

•  Completed 19 fingerprint requests at Beeman Elementary School in New Haven on Oct. 2 and 31 requests at Bristol Elementary on Oct. 5, for persons wanted to volunteer with the Addison Northeast Supervisory Union. On various other dates, police completed fingerprint requests for eight individuals, two for employment and six for volunteer purposes.

•  Began investigating an assault reported on Oct. 2. Police have interviewed persons involved, but have not yet filed charges.

•  Began investigating a reported threat of physical harm on Oct. 2. The complainant said that someone had called and threatened them.

•  Assisted the Vermont State Police in carrying out a search warrant in Bristol on Oct. 2.

•  Extinguished a grill fire at a district residence on Oct. 2.

•  Responded to an alarm at Shaw’s on Oct. 2.

•  Completed a required online Criminal Justice Information Services training on Oct. 3, and the next day took a required security test.

•  Accompanied a woman while she gathered personal belongings from her home on Oct. 3.

•  On Oct. 3 heard from a local resident that she received a fraudulent deposit and was asked to purchase iTunes cards for another person. The purchases were completed prior to the woman’s financial institution determining that the deposit was fraudulent. Police investigation is ongoing.

•  Conducted 25 minutes of town-contracted traffic patrol on Route 116 North on Oct. 3. No violations were observed.

•  Received a vandalism complaint from a Pine Street business on Oct. 4. The complainant reported that someone had pried open the gas tank cover of his/her vehicle in an apparent attempt to remove gas. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact police.

•  Assisted a citizen with a juvenile issue at a local address on Oct. 4.

•  Received found property while on Main Street on Oct. 4. The owner later retrieved the property from the station.

•  Assisted the Bristol Rescue Squad with a reported injury on Airport Drive on Oct. 4.

•  Responded to a state police trooper requesting another unit in Starksboro on Oct. 4. The request was cancelled while Bristol police were en route.

•  Inspected a child car seat on Oct. 4.

•  Responded to a local residence at 9:51 p.m. on Oct. 4, after 911 contacted a caller who had hung-up and was informed that there had been an argument. Police helped mediate a resolution for the night.

•  Conducted 30 minutes of town-contracted traffic patrol on Hardscrabble Road on Oct. 5, and issued two tickets for speeding.

•  Investigated a reported suspicious incident involving a juvenile and an adult on Oct. 5. Police determined that no crime had been committed and issued the adult a trespass notice for the property.

•  Helped resolve a reported child custody dispute on Oct. 5. Police determined that the complainant had not been informed of the correct location to pick up the child. Police found the new location, and the exchange was completed without incident.

•  Stood by until a tow truck responded to Stoney Hill for a disabled vehicle in the roadway on Oct. 5.

•  Pursued an active investigation as part of the Vermont Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force on Oct. 6.

•  Helped mediate a juvenile problem at a local address on Oct. 6.

•  Searched the Main Street area for a vehicle wanted by another law enforcement agency on Oct. 7.

•  Began investigating an Oct. 7 complaint from a local resident that a credit card account being opened in their name without consent.

•  Checked a residence reported as un-secure by a concerned neighbor on Oct. 7.

•  Took a report from a parent regarding a suspicious circumstance involving her juvenile child, on Oct. 7. Police determined that none of the circumstances were criminal in nature.

•  Resolved a problem involving a juvenile on Oct. 9.

•  Assisted state police with an active investigation on Oct. 9.

•  Began investigating a report of damage to a vehicle on Oct. 9. The vehicle owner said the damage occurred at the Bristol Elementary School parking lot, but that they didn’t notice the damage until getting home. Police identified the driver of the other vehicle, and the parties agreed to settle it between themselves.

•  Resolved a juvenile problem at a local address on Oct. 9.

•  Searched for an erratic driver reported as heading toward Bristol on Oct. 9, but could not locate the vehicle.
