MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police on Sept. 27 received a report from a former resident who had hired a moving company to take household goods to a new home out of state but the good never arrived.

Police are investigating.

In other activity between Sept. 25 and Oct. 1, Middlebury police:

•  On Sept. 25 got a call from a Main Street resident who had received overpayment for an item sold on craigslist.com; the payer had told the Middlebury man to keep the full amount for now but to give the extra money to the person who picks up the item being sold. Police told the local man that this was a scam and he should shred the check.

•  On Sept. 25 responded to a minor two-car crash in a Court Street Extension parking lot that resulted in some property damage.

•  On Sept. 25 assisted a drunken man who had fallen down in the Buttolph Drive neighborhood. Ultimately the man was taken to Porter Hospital.

•  On Sept. 26 at 12:48 a.m. turned over an incapacitated female to her father.

•  On Sept. 26 looked into two separate car crashes with some property damage — one on Case Street and the other on Collins Drive.

•  On Sept. 26 heard that some juvenile males were seen damaging a shopping cart on Court Street Extension. Investigation continues.

•  On Sept. 26 looked into a report of a bike stolen from Valley View Road.

•  On Sept. 26 at 11 p.m. warned a male and female that they in the town park on Main Street after it had closed.

•  On Sept. 27 at 1:33 p.m. helped Middlebury Regional EMS personnel with an intoxicated male who was vomiting on Exchange Street.

•  On Sept. 27 responded to a report of a dog locked in a hot car parked on College Street.

•  On Sept. 27 responded to a two-car crash with property damage on Main Street near Bakery Lane.

•  On Sept. 27 served a restraining order on a Middlebury man at the police station.

•  On Sept. 28 at 2:37 a.m. found keys in the door of a closed local business. The officer checked that the building was secure and took the keys to the police station for the business owner to pick them up.

•  On Sept. 28 began investigating a theft from a mailbox on Washington Street Extension.

•  On Sept. 29 were called to an incident where two Middlebury Union High School students were scuffling and calling each other names. School officials meted out discipline.

•  On Sept. 29 assisted MREMS with a student who had fallen at Middlebury Union Middle School.

•  On Sept. 29 received a report that cows at a local farm weren’t getting proper care. Police said they found the cows were fine and headed soon to slaughter.

•  On Sept. 29 responded to a report of a domestic disturbance between two adult women in the Quarry Road area. Police report that no physical contact was made and the women agreed to separate.

•  On Sept. 30 at 12:22 a.m. assisted MREMS with a drunken man on Buttolph Drive.

•  On Sept. 30 at 1:27 a.m. issued tickets to cars parked on Weybridge Street for violation of the overnight parking ban.

•  On Sept. 30 checked the welfare of a possibly suicidal person in the Woodland Park neighborhood.

•  On Sept. 30 looked into a report of fireworks being set off on Route 7 South.

•  On Oct. 1 responded to a car crash with property damage on Lemon Fair Road/Route 125.

•  On Oct. 1 received a call about a man who had threatened to harm himself with his vehicle. Police couldn’t find the man, but were told later that he was located and safe.

•  On Oct. 1 checked the welfare of a resident who had had a death in the family.

•  On Oct. 1 were asked to check the welfare of a man, who was located in Shoreham.

•  On Oct. 1 assisted a state police officer at a traffic stop on East Main Street.

•  On Oct. 1 stood by until the fire department arrived to handle a fire alarm going off at a Merchants Row building.

•  On Oct. 1 responded with the fire department to a report of a bonfire off Washington Street.
