VERGENNES — A number of alcohol-related incidents, including issuing citations for driving under the influence of alcohol and helping Vermont State Police process DUI cases at the city station, helped keep Vergennes police busy between Oct. 23 and Nov. 5.

On Oct. 24 backed up VSP at a DUI stop on Monkton Road in Ferrisburgh. That stop resulted in state police citing a 33-year-old Bridport man for drunk driving.

On Oct. 26 Vergennes police were told of a potential drunk driver on Main Street and stopped a vehicle driven by Jake Ramage, 24, of Middletown Springs when they also noticed defective equipment. Police cited Ramage for DUI refusal.

On Oct. 27, Oct. 29 and Nov. 4 city police helped VSP process DUI cases at the police station.

On Oct. 28 Vergennes police went with the Vergennes Area Rescue Squad to Northlands Job Corps to help with two minor students who were severely intoxicated. VARS took both to Porter Hospital, and police issued them court diversion paperwork.

On Nov. 5 city police helped VSP with a drunken individual on Main Street whom a trooper came across while working another case; VSP took him to detox in Burlington.

On Nov. 5 Vergennes police drove home a drunken Champlain Farms customer.

On Nov. 5 city police issued a DUI citation to Marla A. Wright, 37, of Shoreham after stopping her car on Route 22A in Ferrisburgh for defective equipment. Police allege her blood-alcohol content tested at 0.0126; the legal level for driving is 0.08.

In other incidents during that two-week period, Vergennes police:

•  On Oct. 23 took a report of a dispute between two people at City Limits.

•  On Oct. 25 began investigating a report that a Vergennes Union High School student had received inappropriate photos from an uncle.

•  On Oct. 26 found and secured an unlocked downtown business door while on patrol.

•  On Oct. 26 dealt with a minor two-car crash at the intersection of West Main Street and Panton Road.

•  On Oct. 27 went to the city green to help VARS deal with a woman experiencing mental health issues.

•  On Oct. 28 looked into a reported assault involving two Northlands students and decided no charges were warranted; police said the student who started the scuffle was kicked out of the program.

•  On Oct. 30 directed traffic around a tractor-trailer unit stalled out in front of the Small City Market.

•  On Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 worked with state police and Bristol police on a case that led to a trooper arresting a former VUHS employee for damaging vehicles and other property belonging to acquaintances at the school, in Bristol and in Bridport. On Nov. 1 issued on behalf of the Addison Northwest School District a no-trespass order to the employee, Patrick Brace, 53, whose most recent address is listed as Panton.

•  On Nov. 2 took a report of a city resident violating a restraining order.

•  On Nov. 3 were told an unattended 4-year-old child was playing on North Maple Street; the child told police his parents were asleep. Police notified the Department for Children and Families.

•  On Nov. 3 checked the welfare of a Thomas Circle resident, who was OK.
