During that week, Vergennes police:

On April 30 responded to Shaw’s Supermarket when an employee told them there was a drunken customer there. After making contact with the customer, police cited her for driving under the influence of alcohol, refusal to submit to testing. Cited was Kerrin Hopkins, 57, of Skaneatles, N.Y.

On May 1:

•           Were alerted by an employee of United Technologies that he had been receiving threatening text messages from a resident of New York state, a situation he said was already being investigated by state police in New York but wanted to make city police aware of.

•           Dealt with a loose dog complaint in the West Street area.

•           Helped Vermont State Police deal with a vehicle that had been abandoned on Route 7 in Ferrisburgh.

•           Took a report at the station for insurance purposes of damage done to a vehicle at an earlier date.

•           Checked out a report of youths smoking near the skate park, but could not find them.

On May 2:

•           Helped calm a depressed woman who was considering jumping into the river at the Otter Creek falls; the Vergennes Area Rescue Squad took her to the UVM Medical Center.
