ADDISON COUNTY — On this past Saturday, Dec. 1, at approximately 12:30 p.m. Vermont State Police troopers were dispatched to a two-car crash on Route 17 near Jersey Street South in Addison.

The troopers’ initial investigation indicated that Kenneth Beane, 31, of Addison was driving a Volvo westbound on Route 17 and was slowing down to turn into a local business and at the same time William Sinks, 54, of Weybridge was driving a pickup eastbound on Route 17 at a speed estimated to be approximately 50 mph. Police said Beane failed to see Sinks’ truck approaching, turned left into the business and the truck struck the Volvo in the passenger side. The Volvo came to rest just off the roadway, while the pickup ended up against a residence.

Beane sustained a cut on his head, and was treated on scene; Sinks was reported uninjured. Both vehicles were judged to be totaled.

Vermont State Police were assisted on scene by the Addison Fire Department, Vergennes Area Rescue Squad and Middlebury Regional EMS.

This crash is open pending further investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed this motor vehicle crash is asked to contact the New Haven State Police barracks at 388-4919.
