Lincoln to decide two contests on Town Meeting Day

LINCOLN — When they come to Burnham Hall on Town Meeting Day, March 7, Lincoln residents will see familiar faces running unopposed for town clerk, town treasurer and selectboard.

But when it comes to the town moderator and second constable positions, voters will need to make a choice.

Alan Kamman is challenging Will Sipsey in a race for town and school meeting moderator. Matthew Collins is again challenging Mark Truax in a race for second constable.

UVM honors Lincoln resident as first Levitt Family Professor

BURLINGTON/LINCOLN — Katharine Shepherd, Ed.D., a professor and interim associate dean in the College of Education and Social Services (CESS) at the University of Vermont, was endowed in a formal investiture ceremony on Feb. 7 as the inaugural Levitt Family Green and Gold Professor. Shepherd is a Lincoln resident.

Coloring enthusiasts meet in Lincoln

In fact, adult coloring books are all the rage right now. And while researchers and art therapists alike have touted the calming benefits for years, now you can join a group led by a professional artist that is able to give you those tips and pointers that make all the difference.

ANESU to hold developmental screenings on March 15

BRISTOL — The Early Education Program of the Addison Northeast Supervisory Union (ANESU) will hold its developmental screenings on Wednesday, March 15, 1-4:30 p.m.

Children will have the opportunity to play in an early childhood classroom using art materials, blocks, puzzles and imaginative play materials.  Parents can share information about their child and learn more about their child’s communication, social, play and motor skills.

The screening is free and will take about one hour.

Five-town school spending proposals could raise taxes

BRISTOL — School boards around the Addison Northeast Supervisory Union are ready to warn spending plans for the district’s five elementary schools.

When five-town voters cast ballots on Town Meeting Day they will be considering budgets that lower proposed spending at each of the schools but see small increases in the amount to be raised by taxes.

Vermont Folk Rocker chairs to be raffled for arts benefit

New committee charged with determining cost of Mount Abe repairs

BRISTOL — The five towns of the Addison Northeast Supervisory Union will again be asked to take a hard look at renovating the 48-year-old Mount Abraham Union High School facility, including possibly with funds from a bond.

“It’s really about planning and fiscal responsibility,” ANeSU Superintendent Patrick Reen said at a Mount Abe school board meeting Tuesday.

'Sleepwalker' roams onto bookshelves; Bohjalian reveals 19th novel

Standing Rock benefit to be held in Burnham Hall

LINCOLN — Burnham Hall Lincoln in Lincoln this Saturday evening will be the site of a benefit concert for those blocking the Dakota Access Pipeline from threatening the water supply in Standing Rock, N.D.

This will be an opportunity for high-energy dancing with local band Gumbo Ya-Ya as participants send their positive love vibes to North Dakota, where our brothers and sisters have been fighting for the rights of indigenous people and protecting public water from threats posed by running the Dakota Access Pipeline under an important reservoir and the Missouri River.
