By Charlie Mitchell

MtAbe0444.jpg

BRISTOL — In 15 years, the student population at Mount Abraham Union High School has dropped 33 percent, from almost 1,000 students to 639. That drop in student numbers is part of the reason that the per capita cost of education per pupil has risen so dramatically over that same period.

Will that trend continue? Not necessarily, but the jury is out.

LINCOLN — The 2018 Winter Olympics are officially underway and I’m so excited to watch the amazingly talented Team U.S.A. go for the gold. The Parade of Nations is always a highlight for me. You can just feel the Olympic spirit as the athletes beam with pride waving their nation’s flag, taking selfies with their teammates and dancing along with the music. Good luck to all of the athletes.

The U.S.A.’s first gold medal of the games was awarded to 17-year-old Redmond Gerard in the Snowboarding Slopestyle Final. Go Team USA.

LINCOLN - Just like that, another Hill Country Holiday weekend is in the books. Thank you to Lincoln Sports and the organizers of all the fun events. Taco Night helped raise money for the LCS 5/6 play. During movie night at the church, I enjoyed listening to the kids laugh at all the funny parts in one of my all-time favorite movies, “Cool Runnings.”
