Town meeting in Brandon will return to town hall

State police unveil web tool to spread information on crime mysteries

VERMONT — Vermont State Police have launched a new tool to provide an increased focus and public awareness of missing persons cases. Interactive Vermont Missing Persons and Unsolved Homicides webpages have been created in an effort to make case specific information more readily available to the public, and create awareness that might generate new information for investigators.

Vergennes sewer rates expected to increase

VERGENNES — Vergennes aldermen at their May 24 meeting said it was “inevitable” that city sewer rates would rise, probably this year, but if not this year certainly by next year.

City Manager Mel Hawley told council members that during the past couple of years he has used a year-end fund balance in the sewer budget that has been well over $100,000 to keep rates stable, but that fund balance now projects to be around $40,000 at the end of this fiscal year, June 30.

Middlebury College to graduate more than 500 on Sunday

MIDDLEBURY — At last! Middlebury College will graduate more than 500 seniors on Sunday in a ceremony that will be steeped in tradition, yet with an air of lightness befitting the current generation.

Thousands of out-of-town guests are expected to flood the shiretown this weekend for the 215th Middlebury College Commencement, which will take place between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on the quad behind Munroe and Voter halls.

Voting set for June 2 on $1 million Salisbury bridge replacement
