ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police, in addition to dealing with a variety of traffic accidents and handing out various citations, are investigating two recent cases of local home burglaries in which stashes of change were reported stolen.

On Oct. 4 at 4:19 p.m. troopers were called to investigate the burglary of a residence on DeLong Road in Cornwall, where items reported stolen included a coffee can of change valued at $50. There were no signs of forced entry. It is estimated that the burglary occurred that Thursday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

A second burglary occurred at a home on Leicester Whiting Road in the town of Whiting sometime between noon on Oct. 4 and 1 p.m. on Oct. 7. Items taken from the residence included a water jug of change valued at $80. There were no signs of forced entry here either.

In other recent activity troopers:

•  On Oct. 2 at approximately 7:15 a.m. responded to a report of a burglary at the home of a 79-year-old woman in Salisbury. Investigation revealed entry was gained through the front door of the residence and several pieces of jewelry and a vase were taken. Anyone with information is asked to call the VSP at 802-388-4919,or submit an anonymous tip by texting “CRIMES” to keyword: VTIPS.

•  On Oct. 2 at approximately 11:30 a.m. responded to report that a woman was in violation of a no stalking order. Police cited Kathy Kahlstrom, 59, of Vergennes for violation of an abuse prevention order in Bristol, and lodged her at Chittenden County Correctional Center for lack of $2,500 bail.

•  On Oct. 2 received a complaint that around Sept. 24 at around 7:30 p.m., a resident of Monkton Road in Monkton heard a noise on the porch. It was dark and the resident went outside to check the front door and found a thin, white male in his late 30s leaving the porch. The resident told police that the male was acting suspiciously and would not provide any information as to who he was, and that he had parked his vehicle at the end of the driveway. The vehicle was described as a beat up, older blue Subaru station wagon. No crime was alleged. Anyone with information is asked to contact the VSP.

•  On Oct. 2 at 9:35 p.m. were called to investigate the burglary of a residence on Hollow Road in Monkton, where the resident reported the theft of two blue and white Yamaha dirt bikes valued at $1,000 each. There were no signs of forced entry. Police estimated the burglary occurred between 7 and 9:15 p.m. Anyone with information is asked to contact the VSP.

•  On Oct. 2 cited Taya Mahony, 29, of Ferrisburgh for driving with a suspended license on Old Hollow Road in Ferrisburgh.

•  On Oct. 3 at 10:30 a.m. received a report of the theft of a private road sign near Lake Dunmore Road in Leicester. The name on the private road sign is “Triangle Square Circle” and it was stolen during the evening of Oct. 2 and morning of Oct. 3. Anyone with information is asked to contact the VSP.

•  Oct. 3 at 8:41 p.m. responded to a motor vehicle crash on Dog Team Road in New Haven. The driver, identified as Diana DeGray, 51, of Middlebury, was transported to Porter Hospital in Middlebury, were she was assessed by hospital personnel and released. Police then cited DeGray for driving under the influence.

•  On Oct. 4 were conducting a motor vehicle enforcement detail in Shoreham and stopped a car driven by Christine Costa, 36, of Shoreham for a routine violation. Police cited Costa for possession of marijuana.

•  On Oct. 5 at 7:55 p.m. stopped a car driven by Daryl Anderson, 27, of Cornwall, on Route 30 in Cornwall for speeding. Police cited Anderson for DUI.

•  On Oct. 5 at approximately 9:33 p.m. responded to a report of a vehicle off the roadway on Route 125 in Ripton. Police located the 2009 VW Jetta in Hancock; the driver, identified as Benjamin Randlett, 23, of Middlebury, told police he was going too fast and lost control of the vehicle rounding a sharp corner. The vehicle is estimated to be totaled due to moderate front-end damage with airbag deployment. No injuries were reported.

•  On Oct. 6 received a report that someone had stolen an ATV from Auto Creek and AC Sports off Route 7 in North Ferrisburgh sometime between 6:10 p.m. on Oct. 5 and 8:45 a.m. on Oct. 6. Anyone with information is asked to contact the VSP.

•  On Oct. 7 at approximately 6:30 a.m. responded to a two vehicle crash on Route 125 in Hancock, where police said a 2003 Subaru driven by Leslie Eramo, 20, of Hancock was attempting to pass a 2003 Toyota truck on a sharp curve on Route 125. Police said the Subaru struck the Toyota truck, driven by Ronald Hardt, 57, of Salisbury, flipping it over onto its side. Both vehicles sustained significant contact damage as a result of the collision. The drivers and passengers were all uninjured. Police issued Eramo tickets for limitations on passing and failure to wear a seatbelt.

•  On Oct. 7 at 9:39 p.m. stopped a motor vehicle on Richville Road in Shoreham. Police said they found that a passenger in the vehicle — Robert Fjeld, 18, of Salisbury — was found to be in possession of marijuana and a prescription pill that he did not have a prescription for. He was cited for possession of marijuana and possession of a regulated substance.
