MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police cited Fred J. Seavy, 49, of North Clarendon for felony possession of marijuana, after he was observed driving the wrong way on Court Square on May 3. Police requested and received a search warrant to check the vehicle. That search, according to police, yielded “several bags of marijuana,” packaging equipment and a scale.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

•  Helped defuse a landlord-tenant dispute at a Quesnel Lane residence on April 29.

•  Responded to a reported theft in the College Street area on April 30.

•  Received a report that two inspection stickers had been stolen from two trucks in the Cady Road area on April 30.

•  Assisted a John Graham Court resident with a child who was refusing to go to school on April 30.

•  Went to Middlebury Union High School on May 1 to investigate reports of sexual images being shared from a cell phone.

•  Responded to a report of a woman allegedly trying to cash a stolen check at Peoples Bank off Court Street on May 1.

•  Were informed of the theft of a PlayStation II from a North Pleasant Street resident’s porch on May 1.

•  Investigated allegations of lewd and lascivious conduct involving some juveniles in the Deerfield Lane area on May 3.

•  Arrested Melanie Sargent, 43, of Middlebury on an outstanding warrant for escape, on May 2.

•  Were informed that a cell phone had been stolen from the Porter Hospital Emergency Room lobby on May 2.

•  Assisted a Cross Street resident who reported receiving harassing and threatening text messages from a woman on May 2.

•  Cited Naomi J. Manning, 35, of Ripton for driving under the influence, following investigation of a collision involving a car and a horse trailer on Route 7 South on May 2.

•  Investigated a man who on May 2 had been denied access to the Addison County Transit Resources bus on Merchants Row because he had a knife, was acting in a “threatening manner,” and was believed to be drunk. Police found the man and determined that he had a pocketknife and was not drunk.

•  Called for Middlebury Volunteer Ambulance Association officials to assist a Lindale Circle resident who had fallen and injured herself on May 2.

•  Investigated a report of fireworks being set off in the College Street area on May 2.

•  Returned, to a parent in the Main Street area, a child who had run away on May 3.

•  Heard from a North Pleasant Street resident on May 3 who complained that a person to whom she lent her vehicle had not returned it yet.

•  Responded to a noise complaint in the Methodist Lane area on May 3.

•  Served a temporary restraining order on a local person for an Ossie Road address on May 3.

•  Responded to a dispute between two South Pleasant Street neighbors on May 3.

•  Investigated a larceny complaint in the Court Street Extension area on May 3.

•  Were informed, on May 3, that a man had left Green Mountain Shoe & Apparel with stolen property. Police have been unable to find the man but continue to investigate the incident.

•  Notified Middlebury College Public Safety (MCPS) about reports of a loud party in student housing on Murdock Court on May 4. Police said MCPS shut down the party.

•  Received, from state police on May 4, a backpack found in Addison that belongs to a Middlebury College student.

•  Cited Nathaniel Church, 27, of Jeffersonville for driving with a suspended license (criminal offense) following a traffic stop on Route 7 on May 4.

•  Responded to a noise complaint at a Seymour Street Extension residence on May 5. Police said the resident was asked to turn down loud music.

•  Received a report of a person trying to use a fake identification card to buy alcohol at Hannaford Supermarket on May 5. Police said the culprit had left prior to their arrival.

•  Responded to a report of a “loud fight” at a Creek Road residence on May 5. Police said a couple had apparently been playing loudly with their children.

•  Assisted Vermont State Police in breaking up a fight between some Route 116 neighbors on May 6.

•  Investigated a report that some jewelry had been stolen from a Commodore Way residence on May 6.

•  Assisted a Cross Street resident who was having some mental health issues on May 6.
