MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police were informed of the theft of a purse, wallet, laptop and iPhone from a vehicle parked on East Main Street on May 20.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

•  Broke up a dispute between some Seminary Street neighbors on May 20.

•  Assisted a local resident who on May 20 reported the theft of four snow tires, with rims.

•  Received a report that a youth had used his hand to smash through a window at the Middlebury College Ridgeline Road housing on May 21.

•  Received a report of the theft of a bank debit card and a “Midd” card from Middlebury College campus on May 21.

•  Investigated the reported theft of a trailer from a Blake Roy Road residence on May 21. Police said the trailer was found at the Wyre Wheel property on Route 7 that same day.

•  Separated two youths who had been fighting in the College Street area on May 21.

•  Arrested Matthew Lessard, 41, of Shelburne for domestic assault on behalf of the Shelburne Police Department on May 21. Police said they made the arrest in the Route 7 South area and transferred custody to Shelburne PD.

•  Assisted the parents of two fighting brothers on Seminary Street on May 22.

•  Responded to a report of a drunken man walking along Route 7 North on May 22.

•  Investigated allegations of a student threatening another student at Middlebury Union Middle School on May 22.

•  Quieted a loud party at Middlebury College’s Porter House on Water Street on May 22.

•  Responded to a littering complaint in the College Street neighborhood on May 22.

•  Got mental health assistance for a Cross Street resident on May 22.

•  Turned a local juvenile over to his parents on May 23 after he was allegedly seen placing some items in his backpack at Kinney Drugs on Court Street on May 23.

•  Were informed that someone had stolen a bike from a North Pleasant Street driveway on May 23.

•  Got mental health assistance for a Cross Street resident on May 24, after he had issued multiple false reports of crimes in the neighborhood.

•  Warned a man for violation of the town’s open container ordinance on May 24.

•  Investigated a strong odor of marijuana coming from a College Street apartment on May 24. Police said they found no pot in the home and that the occupants reported they had “smoked all they had.”

•  Turned an intoxicated Middlebury College student over to campus public safety on May 24.

•  Assisted Porter Hospital with a difficult patient on May 25.

•  Interviewed a local woman on May 25 who said she had been assaulted by her ex-boyfriend. Police said the woman declined to provide a statement, but promised to call back if she changed her mind.

•  Warned a man who had been seen urinating on Shannon Street while holding a beer on May 25.

•  Served court diversion paperwork on a youth who had allegedly been drinking on Middlebury College campus on May 25.

•  Got mental health assistance for a Cross Street resident on May 26.

•  Investigated a report of a woman yelling for help in the Mill Street area on May 26. Police did not find a person in distress at that location.

•  Got mental health assistance for a Cross Street resident on May 26.

•  Served court diversion paperwork on a drunken 19-year-old who had been reported missing on Middlebury College campus on May 26. Police said the male was located in the Battell Building.

•  Responded to a report of some troublesome customers at Middlebury Discount Beverage on MacIntyre Lane on May 27. Police said the customers were gone when they arrived.

•  Responded to a landlord-tenant dispute at an Ossie Road residence on May 27.

•  Alerted the county game warden about a potentially rabid raccoon spotted in the College Street area on May 27. The game warden destroyed the raccoon, which was seen foaming at the mouth and snarling.
