MIDDLEBURY — On Monday, Middlebury police cited Brian P. Renaud, 38, of Middlebury for second-degree domestic assault, following an alleged incident at a Thomas Street residence. Police said Renaud was lodged without bail.

In other action over the last week, Middlebury police:

•  Assisted a Cross Street man who was having some mental health problems on Nov. 4.

•  Responded to a report of some juveniles yelling at vehicles traveling on the Cross Street Bridge on Nov. 4.

•  Investigated an alleged perjury case at the Addison County Courthouse on Nov. 5.

•  Were informed of a missing person from the Middlebury College campus on Nov. 5. Police said the man in question was last seen several hours prior in a very drunken state. Turns out the man had gone to see relatives in the Burlington area.

•  Investigated a shoplifting report at a Park Street store on Nov. 5.

•  Responded to a report of a young man using a fake identification card in an attempt to buy alcohol at a Court Street Extension store on Nov. 6. Police ticketed the youth for using a fake ID and gave him court diversion paperwork for the alcohol offense.

•  Assisted a local woman who alleged the theft of some items from her purse while in the Court Street area on Nov. 6.

•  Assisted an Elm Street resident who reported the theft and forgery of two personal checks on Nov. 6.

•  Received into evidence, from Hannaford Supermarket, a suspected counterfeit $100 bill that had been passed at the store on Nov. 6. Police turned the bill over to federal authorities.

•  Assisted the Addison County Sheriff’s Department with an eviction proceeding in the Court Street area on Nov. 6.

•  Assisted a person who had been receiving harassing phone calls on Nov. 7.

•  Ticketed a minor who was in possession of tobacco on Middlebury Union High School grounds on Nov. 7.

•  Were informed that someone had stolen a checkbook from a backpack at the Ilsley Library on Main Street on Nov. 7.

•  Investigated a report of an out-of-control student on MUHS grounds on Nov. 7.

•  Assisted Porter Hospital officials with an out-of-control female patient on Nov. 8.

•  Helped Porter Hospital officials with a patient pending the arrival of counseling professionals on Nov. 8.

•  Responded to a report of a person with a knife allegedly entering the Evergreen House on Court Street on Nov. 8. Police said they found no knife.

•  Cautioned some juveniles that were allegedly going along Deerfield Lane ringing doorbells and leaving on Nov. 8.

•  Investigated a report of a vehicle rear-ending another vehicle in the McDonald’s Restaurant drive-through in The Centre shopping plaza on Nov. 9. Police said the driver of the vehicle that was struck complained of having neck pain. Authorities said the offender was eventually located. Police said they will forward a “leaving the scene of an accident” complaint to the Addison County State’s Attorney’s office for possible prosecution.

•  Responded to a report of a homeless person’s camp near the railroad trestle off Water Street on Nov. 9. Police said they found some juveniles at an old camp who had started a small campfire. Police stood by while the juveniles put out the fire, then notified their parents about the incident.

•  Received a call from a person who reported seeing a bloody knife on the Trail Around Middlebury near Wright Park on Nov. 9. Police searched the trail and could find no such knife, nor were there any signs of blood on the trail.

•  Received a report about a fight between two men near the intersection of Cross and Court streets on Nov. 9. Police said the two men were fighting over the alleged theft of a DVD player. Neither man was injured, according to police.

•  Served a temporary restraining order on a local man on Nov. 9.

•  Investigated a report of a suspected prowler in a Court Street building on Nov. 10. Police could not find any unauthorized people in the building.

•  Responded to a report of loud noise coming from a tractor-trailer unit parked behind Shaw’s Supermarket off Washington Street on Nov. 10. Police determined the noise in question was not unreasonable.

•  Issued a ticket on Nov. 10 to a man found to be in possession of marijuana during a stop on Court Street for defective automobile equipment.

•  Ticketed a minor for being in possession of tobacco in the Thomas Street area on Nov. 11.
