VERGENNES — Addison Northwest Supervisory Union voters on Tuesday approved revised budget proposals for Vergennes Union High School and Ferrisburgh Central School. Both budgets had been rejected on Town Meeting Day.
The vote for the VUHS budget was 687-584. The FCS vote was closer, 246-217.
Voters also approved the tech fund at FCS, by a vote of 270-194, and the capital improvement fund at VUHS, by a vote of 773-498.
Residents of the five ANwSU towns approved a $9.42 million spending plan that is some $317,000 less than the original proposal that was defeated on Town Meeting Day. That figure is also about $82,500 less than the current budget of roughly $9.5 million.
Ferrisburgh residents on Tuesday OK'd a $3.5 million Ferrisburgh Central School budget proposal that is about $120,000 lower than the FCS board’s initial plan that lost on March 4, 450-279, or about 62-38 percent. On Tuesday the margin was about 53 percent in favor and 47 percent opposed.
The Independent will include a full recap of the budgets and their tax rate implications in Thursday's paper.
