MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police cited Jade Lewis, 40, of Leicester for driving under the influence, after she allegedly drove into the back of a set of harrows being hauled by a tractor on Route 7 South at around 9:45 p.m. on Friday, May 16.

Police said two children were in the car at the time of the accident. One of the children sustained a head injury and the other was described as being “shook up” according to police. Both were taken to Porter Hospital.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

•  Intervened at a neighbor dispute on Seymour Street, where police said a woman was being harassed in person and via phone on May 12.

•  Responded to a dispute between some Seymour Street neighbors on May 12.

•  Assisted a woman who was having mental health issues on Main Street on May 12.

•  Investigated a dog-bite incident on College Street on May 12.

•  Made contact with two motorcyclists who were reportedly passing unsafely on Route 30 on May 12.

•  Responded, with area rescue officials, to a report of a kayaker who had allegedly not resurfaced going over the Otter Creek Falls on May 12. Police said it turned out to be a false alarm.

•  Arrested Beau T. Clark, 51, of Burlington for violating his conditions of release on May 13. Police said Clark was lodged at the Chittenden County Correctional Center for lack of bail.

•  Reunited a man with his wallet, which he had lost on Court Street, on May 13.

•  Assisted the Counseling Service of Addison County in taking a patient to Porter Hospital for a mental health evaluation on May 13.

•  Assisted Middlebury public school officials with a truancy complaint on May 13.

•  Cited Jamie Jennings, 36, of Vergennes for driving with a criminally suspended license on College Street on May 14.

•  Ticketed a woman found to be in possession of marijuana on Valley View Road on May 14. Police said the ticket stemmed from a report of a possible “drug deal” in a nearby parking lot.

•  Investigated a strange fire and gathering off Valley View Road on May 14. Police learned that staff from a local church was burning confidential paperwork. Police recommended that the church staff instead use a paper shredder.

•  Responded to a report of a man allegedly threatening to damage a parked vehicle on May 15.

•  Investigated a report of a person trying to get into a South Pleasant Street apartment on May 15. Police could not find such a person in the area.

•  Ticketed two juveniles for being minors in possession of alcohol in town on May 15.

•  Received two drug syringes that a pedestrian had found on Maple Street on May 16.

•  Received a report of a child missing from the Circus Smirkus show at the Memorial Sports Center on May 16. Police said the child was quickly located and reunited with family.

•  Heard from a local resident on May 16 who said his Social Security number had been stolen and used to purchase a phone service.

•  Received a report that several juveniles were skateboarding down the middle of College Street on May 16.

•  Issued court diversion paperwork to a youth found to be in possession of alcohol on May 16.

•  Assisted Middlebury Regional EMS in dispensing care to a man who had overdosed on heroin while traveling in a vehicle on Route 7 South, near Martin’s Hardware, on May 16. Authorities said the man was revived with Narcan and then taken to Porter Hospital.

•  Assisted U.S. Capitol Police in providing security at the Vermont Energy Summit at Middlebury College on May 16, when the U.S. Secretary of Energy spoke.

•  Took into protective custody a drunken man seen urinating outside on Main Street on May 16.

•  Stopped a drunken man from driving under the influence on College Street on May 16.

•  Assisted Two Brothers Tavern staff on Main Street in dealing with some unwanted, drunken patrons on May 16.

•  Drove a drunken man to a detox facility in Rutland on May 17.

•  Assisted rescue officials with an uncooperative patient on May 17.

•  Conducted speed control on Lower Plains Road on May 17, during which two tickets were issued.

•  Assisted Porter Hospital officials with an unruly patient on May 17.

•  Investigated a possible sexual assault in the town of Middlebury on May 17.

•  Cited Janah Hammach, 22, of Vergennes for driving under the influence of alcohol, following a stop on Route 7 North on May 17.

•  Got medical help for a drunken man who had lacerated his arm while in a vehicle parked in The Centre shopping plaza on May 18.

•  Responded to a report of a man refusing to leave a Seminary Street Extension residence on May 18.
