Vergennes Police Log: Cops arrest man for lewdness

VERGENNES — Vergennes police on July 11 cited a city man for lewd and lascivious conduct with a minor for an incident that allegedly occurred on June 6.

Cited was Darrell Tucker, 57. Police said they received a complaint on July 9 that allegedly involved a boy, 14, and that they cited Tucker after an investigation.

Between July 7 and July 13, Vergennes police also:

• On July 7 ticketed the owner of a car that was disabled on Route 7 in Ferrisburgh for being uninspected and unregistered after responding to the scene on behalf of Vermont State Police.

• On July 7 served a relief-from-abuse order to a female resident of a Hillside Acres apartment.

• On July 7 helped the Vergennes Area Rescue Squad at a Hillside Acres apartment call.

• On July 8 dealt with a minor two-car accident on North Green Street.

• On July 8 heard from a Vergennes woman that her wallet was missing, and that she had possibly last seen it at Dakin Farm in Ferrisburgh.

• On July 8 helped VSP by looking for a male said to be jumping out into Old Hollow Road in Ferrisburgh and yelling at cars; police could not find him.

• On July 8 issued subpoenas to residents of Hillside Apartments and of the Whispering Pines Campground in Panton.

• On July 8 began investigating a case in which a male allegedly exposed himself to a young girl.

• On July 8 were told a teen girl was missing from home; police found her at the city skate park and brought her home.

• On July 8 looked for, but could not find, someone reported to be banging on the siding of a First Street home.

• On July 9 told a vagrant sleeping in the Vergennes Opera House to move along.

• On July 9 heard from a Main Street resident that her car had been covered with a red sticky substance; police determined it had been vandalized by a Slushee and peanut butter cups.

• On July 9 searched unsuccessfully on and near Meigs Road for a DR Store customer who became unhappy and pushed and cursed at a store employee.

• On July 9 handled a two-car accident at the junction of Main Street and Monkton Road.

• On July 9 aided Department of Probations and Parole personnel with the arrest of an individual for a parole violation.

• On July 9 helped VSP look into alleged violations of a relief-from-abuse order that occurred in Vergennes and Ferrisburgh.

• On July 9 helped a motorist get into a locked car on Main Street.

• On July 10 were told someone had broken into display homes at a Panton Road business.

• On July 10 looked unsuccessfully for a man after his wife called to say he planned to assault his son at a First Street home.

• On July 10 could not find a suspicious man in black said to be on a Green Street property.

• On July 10 investigated a one-car accident on Main Street in which a motorist drove through the front window of the Black Sheep Bistro. Police said she apparently hit the gas pedal instead of the brake. Police said the restaurant was not open at the time, no one was hurt, and property damage was limited.

• On July 11 responded to the Kinney Drug Store parking lot to check a report that a dog had been left in a car for 20 minutes, but the car was gone.

• On July 11 told a man that he would be charged with stalking if he did not stop following a woman.

• On July 11 helped Middlebury police and VSP with an incident on Munger Street.

• On July 12 cited Gary Cauchon, 30, of Vergennes for driving under the influence and test refusal, after stopping his car for speeding on Main Street.

• On July 13 responded to a Hand Road home in Ferrisburgh on behalf of VSP to check the welfare of a man, who was found to be OK.

• On July 13 went to a Main Street apartment building to check a report that a man was drunk and threatening his family. Police said the man had left, and they granted the woman a relief from abuse order. They said the man returned after police left and tried to enter the apartment, and again left the scene when police were called. The man, Christopher Russin, 48, came to the station on Monday and police cited him then for violating the terms of the abuse prevention order.
