BRISTOL — Bristol police assisted federal and state law enforcement officials last Wednesday in apprehending a 29-year-old Bristol man who was wanted for escaping from custody more than three weeks earlier.

U.S. marshals, with help from Bristol and Vermont state police, on Sept. 27 arrested Kory George in Bristol. George had been wanted by the Vermont Department of Corrections and the Burlington Probation and Parole Office for escape since Sept. 5.

George was taken into custody and lodged at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility. He could be in prison until Oct. 21, 2025.

George had been held on charges including assault and robbery with a weapon, burglary, burglary of an occupied dwelling, two counts of narcotics possession, false pretense, six counts of driving with a suspended license, grand larceny, and two counts of violating conditions of release.

Additionally, George’s criminal history includes charges of being a fugitive from justice, possessing stolen property, fraud, and firearms offenses as well as multiple drug offenses, in both Vermont and Massachusetts.

In other action between Sept. 25 and Oct. 1, Bristol police:

•  Conducted foot patrols along Main Street and the surrounding area, mornings and afternoons on Sept. 25, 26, 27, 28 and 29. On Sept. 25 and 27, police conducted additional nighttime foot patrols. Police found a district business unsecured on Sept. 25 and secured it.

•  Conducted security checks on Mount Abraham Union High School on Sept. 26 and 27 and on Oct. 1.

•  Completed 82 fingerprint requests. Bristol police processed 79 fingerprint requests for individuals seeking to volunteer with Addison Northeast Supervisory Union, 40 requests at Robinson Elementary School on Sept. 27 and 39 requests at Monkton Central School on Sept. 28. Three additional individuals had fingerprints processed at the police station.

•  Assisted a citizen with a juvenile issue at 9:29 a.m. on Sept. 25.

•  Took a report, on Sept. 25, of a license plate stolen from a parked vehicle.

•  Assist a citizen with a juvenile issue at 11:23 a.m. on Sept. 25.

•  Checked on a dog left in a vehicle parked on Main Street on Sept 25. Police determined that the dog was not in distress and located the owner.

•  Returned a lost wallet on Sept. 25.

•  Responded to a fire at a Main Street business on Sept. 26. Once it was determined the building was not occupied and no injuries were reported, officers did traffic control.

•  Began investigating a fraud complaint on Sept. 26.

•  Began an investigation into juveniles sending and receiving nude photos and videos via the internet on Sept. 26.

•  Assisted an area resident with property retrieval at a local address on Sept. 27.

•  Received a complaint from a local resident on Sept. 27 about a vehicle with loud exhaust making excessive noise each morning on Garfield Street.  Police plan to identify and advise the motorist.

•  Participated in a jury trial at Addison Superior Court on Sept. 27.

•  Conducted traffic enforcement in the police district and assisted with a personal injury accident on Route 116 South while on grant time funded by the Governor’s Highway Safety Program on Sept. 28.

•  Attended eight hours of annual National Crime Information Center training at the Vermont Police Academy on Sept. 28.

•  Began investigating a possible assault on Sept. 28. At 12:17 p.m., police were dispatched to a district residence and identified persons involved. The investigation is ongoing.

•  Completed a security detail on Main Street for road closure on Sept. 28.

•  Completed a 1.5-hour patrol in the district funded by an Occupant Protection grant from the Governor’s Highway Safety Program on Sept. 29.

•  Completed 30 minutes of town-contracted patrol on Burpee Road and surrounding areas and issued one speeding ticket, on Sept. 29.

•  Were dispatched to a local business parking lot for a child custody dispute on Sept. 29 at 4:55 p.m. Police were unable to locate the person who had reported the dispute, and later reached the person by phone and were told the dispute had been resolved.

•  Completed a two-hour patrol in the district funded by an Occupant Protection grant from the Governor’s Highway Safety Program, on Sept. 29.

•  Received a noise complaint on Sept. 30 about music turned up too loud at a local residence. Police contacted the homeowner, who turned down the volume.

•  Conducted a 30-minute town-contracted patrol on Route 116 North  and issued one speeding ticket on Sept. 30.

•  Returned a lost debit card to the owner on Oct. 1.

•  Arrested Harley Allen, 18, of Bristol on Oct 1 for failing to appear in Addison Superior Court on Sept. 25 on a charge of furnishing alcohol to a minor and on several charges of driving with a suspended license. Allen was taken into custody without incident and lodged at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility for lack of bail.
