BRISTOL — On Oct. 21 Bristol police arrested 38-year-old Jeremy Charles Denton of White Water, Wis., and cited him for driving under the influence, second offense.

Officers were notified of a vehicle traveling southbound on Monkton Road toward Bristol after another motorist observed erratic operation. Police stopped the vehicle on Cove Road in Bristol and noted signs of impairment.

The driver, identified as Denton, submitted to field sobriety exercises and was subsequently taken into custody on suspicion of DUI.

Police seized the vehicle, obtained a search warrant, searched it and found marijuana that was enough to warrant a civil violation.

Denton was lodged at Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility for lack of $10,000 bail.

In other recent activity Bristol police:

•  Conducted multiple foot patrols on Main Street and in the surrounding area on Oct. 16, 18, 19 and 20. On Oct. 18 and 19, an officer secured buildings that had been left unlocked.

•  Conducted foot patrols on Mountain Street near Bristol Elementary School on Oct. 16, 17 and 18.

•  Checked security at Mount Abraham Union High School on Oct. 16, 17, 18, 19 and 22.

•  Conducted town-contracted traffic patrol on Oct. 19 and 20, covering Daniel’s Four Corners, Route 116 and Lower Notch Road. Police issued one warning and six tickets for speeding.

•  Completed multiple fingerprint requests on Oct. 19.

•  Began investigating a reported theft of a check on Oct. 16.

•  Took mandatory annual testing as a National Crime Information Center full service terminal operator on Oct. 16.

•  Patrolled Airport Drive on foot on the morning of Oct. 17.

•  Investigated two truancy-related incidents and provided information to the Addison County State’s Attorney’s Office on Oct. 17.

•  Provided records to the Office of Personnel Management as requested on Oct. 17.

•  Received a complaint of illegally parked vehicles at MAUHS on Oct. 17.

•  Responded to MAUHS after a small quantity of drugs was located on Oct. 18.

•  Responded to a Main Street address for a report of two people yelling at 4:39 p.m. on Oct. 1. The Bristol police officer was assisted by a Vermont State Police trooper. Law enforcement helped resolve the dispute.

•  Responded to a local residence for a report of telephone harassment on Oct. 19. Police found that the incident did not rise to level of an offense.

•  Were dispatched to a reported 911 hang-up on Oct. 20, but found there was no emergency at the residence.

•  Heard an Oct. 20 complaint from a citizen who reported receiving harassing messages on Facebook. Police provided the complainant with information on obtaining civil orders from the court.

•  Received a dog found in a resident’s yard on Oct. 21. The dog was released to its owner on Oct. 23.

•  Assisted the Bristol Fire Department at a Mountain Street apartment building on Oct. 22.
