Bristol Police Log: Officers patrol area in cars, on foot

BRISTOL — Between Dec. 11 and 17, Bristol police conducted a lot of patrols in and around the village.

During that period police completed directed patrols on North Street, West Street, Lower Notch Road, Upper Notch Road, Notch Road, Briggs Hill at the intersection of Lincoln Road, and twice in an area a Bristol police log noted as “an area of concern within (the police) district.” The patrols resulted in a ticket for a stop sign violation and several warnings.

On Dec. 16 a Bristol officer completed a 45-minute saturation patrol  with the Vermont State Police in the area of Plank Road and Burpee Road and issued one warning for speeding.

Officers got out of their cars and completed patrols on foot on Main Street, Mountain Street or in areas near Bristol elementary School several times on Dec. 11-15. On Dec. 17 an officer conducted foot patrol  on the town park during the live nativity event.

Police performed security checks at Mount Abraham Union High School every day except one between Dec. 11 and 17.

In other recent activity, Bristol police:

•  On Dec. 11 attended a truancy meeting without incident.

•  On Dec. 11 performed 30 minutes of traffic enforcement on North Street near Plank Road and saw no violations.

•  On Dec. 11 assisted state police with an investigation without incident.

•  On Dec. 11 had one vehicle towed for being in violation of the winter parking ban.

•  On Dec. 12 provided courtesy transportation to a person to retrieve a vehicle towed because of the winter ban.

•  On Dec. 12 completed a fingerprint request for an individual for volunteer purposes.

•  On Dec. 12 assisted in resolving a roommate dispute at a Mountain Street home.

•  On Dec. 13 at 12:58 a.m. had a vehicle towed from Park Place; it was parked in violation of the winter parking ban.

•  On Dec. 13 serviced truancy related paperwork.

•  On Dec. 13 responded to a reported juvenile problem. No law violations were discovered and the situation was calmed without incident.

•  On Dec. 13 met with school staff related to emergency management planning.

•  On Dec. 13 looked into a report of an injured animal that appeared to have been struck by a vehicle on Liberty Street. The owner was notified and the animal was provided care at Bristol Animal Hospital.

•  On Dec. 14 assisted with a sexting presentation to professionals involved in the field of sexual abuse investigation related to the development of an education program to youth in the area.

•  On Dec. 14 attended a multi-disciplinary-team meeting at Addison County Unit for Special Investigations.

•  On Dec. 14 responded to a Mountain Street residence for a report of a dispute between roommates, and resolved the situation with officer assistance.

•  On Dec. 14 responded to a minor two-vehicle crash on Main Street.

•  On Dec. 15 was contacted by the state police dispatch center about a vehicle operating erratically traveling east on Route 17 near the entrance to Mount Abe. Bristol police officers were unable to locate the vehicle.

•  On Dec. 16 responded to a two-vehicle collision on West Street without injuries.
