Are you a high school student from the class of 2013? Have you ever wished that the adults making decisions about your education's future would listen more to kids? Have you ever wanted to weigh in on Vermont's educational future?
Well, here's your chance!
The Vermont Board of Education is one of the few state education boards in the country that has a full-voting student member, and they want interested applicants to apply.
The board is seeking high school students from the class of 2013 to serve a two-year term beginning on July 1, 2011. Only in the second year of this term will the student member actually have the ability to vote alongside the other eight adult members.
But, hey! At least Vermont gives its kids a voice!
“This is an exciting opportunity for Vermont’s young people, and I am asking for everyone’s help informing students of our candidate search,” said Governor Shumlin in a press release.
