Weekly Rider: Green Mountain Stage Race

The Green Mountain Stage Race is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday in Hinesburg and loop around Starksboro. Since we're Addison County's paper, this route deviates slightly from the original course, beginning in Bristol rather than Hinesburg. Here's a medium-length ride that's sure to get your blood pumping, and if you haven't had enough, you can take it like the racers and do it it twice!

Length: 29.82 miles

Difficulty: Intermediate

Duration: 2-3 hours

This version of the Green Mountain Stage Race loop will begin in Bristol on Route 116 at the Bottom of Route 17. From here head North for about 10 miles on Route 116 until you hit Hollow Road in Hinesburg. Hang a right and ride east up into the mountains. Hollow Road becomes Hinesburg Hollow Road. Follow Hinesburgh Hollow Road unti you hit Main Road. Take a right on Main Road and head South onto Gore Road. Pedal up onto Route 17 from Gore Road and turn right. Then coast on down to the bottom of the loop.

But don't stop there — head on over to the town of Bristol for a one-of-a-kind brew at the Bobcat (if you're 21 or older, of course), a ginger-glazed chocolate chip cookie at the bakery or any other treats or odds and ends featured at many of Bristol's locally owned businesses.
