GLENILA I. GREENE

MIDDLEBURY — Glenila I. Greene, 78, passed away on Oct. 3, 2017, at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury.

She was born Oct. 4, 1939, in Hancock, the daughter of Raymond and Elise Sherman Whittier.

Glenila is survived by her son Leroy J. Greene of Middlebury, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Geneva Peters and her niece Lorretta Vorse.

VIDA A. SECK

BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. — Mrs. Vida (Shotie) A. Seck (LaRock), formerly of Orwell, died at 99 in Bullhead City, Ariz., at the Western Arizona Regional Medical Center of natural causes on Sept. 26, 2017. She was born Jan. 5, 1918, in Stradtford, Conn., to Olga (Johansson) LaRock and Joseph LaRock.

She grew up in Connecticut and Maplewood, N.J. with her parents and siblings, Marie, Alfred and Amanda (Baby). She graduated from Millburn High School, salutatorian of her class. Vida was married Oct. 4, 1943, to Herbert T. Seck Jr. at Camp Kilmer, N.J.

RHODA RABSON

SOUTH BURLINGTON — We share with you the passing of Rhoda Rabson, 96, on Sept. 28, 2017. Rhoda’s numerous lifetime achievements and accomplishments cannot be expressed in words but rather in her actions. Foremost was raising her three children and six grandchildren to be independent. In July of this year she welcomed her first great grandchild.

MARY DEL PEIRO

CORNWALL — Mary (Mossman) Del Piero of Cornwall was born on Jan. 22, 1925 in Gardner, Mass., and took her last breath on Sept. 27, 2017 in Middlebury, Vt., in the light-filled Green Mountain ARCH room with her daughter beside her.

In her final weeks, Mary powerfully affirmed that hers had been a joyful life. She treasured myriad deep friendships across miles and cultures and touched many lives in her typically understated way of giving to others. During the past five years, Mary cherished regular visits from her little granddaughter and namesake, Abigail Mary.

JOSEPH ALBERT TISBERT

PANTON — Joseph Albert Tisbert, 90, passed away Monday Sept. 25, 2017, surrounded by family. He was born January 26, 1927, in Andover, Mass., the son of Hector Arthur Sr. and Olivene (Cloutier) Tisbert.

In 1959 Albert moved his family from Andover to Panton, Vt., to live out his dream of dairy farming. He spent his life farming. Albert was active in the farming community, serving as a member of the Farm Bureau and as an Officer of the NFO. He was active in the town of Panton and was an advocate of his community and the farming community.

SHIRLEY MAY NEW

LEICESTER — Shirley May New, age 86, died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, surrounded by her family, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. New was born in Leicester on May 16, 1931. She was the daughter of Roy and Elsie (Fiske) Cole. She received her early education in local Leicester schools. She belonged to 4-H for many years and attended the 4-H congress in Chicago in 1950. She graduated from Brandon High School, Class of 1949.

JAMES H. FOSTER JR.

MIDDLEBURY — James H. Foster Jr., 47, died as the result of a farming accident on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017.

He was born January 29, 1970, in Middlebury, the son of James and Joyce (Warner) Foster.

Jim was a graduate of Middlebury Union High School class of 1988 and received his Associates degree in Ag Business Management from Vermont Technical College in 1990. He furthered his education at Kansas State University and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science in 1992.

HORACE A. BRONSON JR.

SOUTH BURLINGTON — Horace A. Bronson Jr., 89, of South Burlington, died on Friday, Sept. 22, 2017, at Starr Farm Nursing Center.

He was born in Bridport on Feb. 7, 1928, the son of the late Horace and Alice Myrick Bronson. Horace served with the U.S. Air Force. He was married to Joyce Jimmo on Dec. 13, 1957. She predeceased him on Nov. 5, 2010.

PAUL A. BOIVIN

ADDISON — Paul A. Boivin, 64, died in a motorcycle accident on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017.

Born Nov. 6, 1952, in Rumford, Maine, to Albert and Jacqueline Caron-Boivin, Paul was the youngest of six children. In 1958 his family moved to Addison, Vt. to begin a life of farming.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
