WEST ADDISON — On Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, Helen Barbara Harvan Mack, 86, said goodbye to the life on earth she so loved. She goes on to join previously deceased husband, Percy, daughter Kathleen, and the Harvan’s side of the family, whose extraordinary characters would provide years of delightful and fascinating storytelling.

MARY BONAMO

NEW HAVEN — A memorable life spanning over a century: Mary Perna Bonamo, Feb. 4, 1904-Nov. 16,2012.

Mary Perna Bonamo, “Aunt Mary,” passed away at home at Twitchell Hill Farm in New Haven, Vermont, at the glorious age of 108, holding her niece and caregiver Sue Perna’s hand. Mary is survived by Sue’s children Georgiana Perna D’Alessandro, Sofia Clark and Oakley Clark; her close nephews and nieces Jimmy Russell, Anabel Perna and Dan Perna; as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins and second cousins in the United States and Italy.

GLADYS CLAREY

NEW HAVEN — Gladys M. Clarey, 89, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Middlebury.

Born in Wells River, Vt., Aug. 26, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Burt E. and Lydia (Parks) Stewart.

Mrs. Clarey was a timekeeper for Jones and Lamson Inc. of Springfield for many years and was a homemaker.

Mrs. Clarey was a member of the North Springfield Baptist Church.

ROBERT DENSMORE

LEXINGTON, N.C. — Robert Murray Densmore, 76, of Lexington, N.C., formerly of Shoreham, Vt., passed away Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, at W.G. Heffner VA Medical Center in Salisbury, N.C.

A celebration of life was held Sunday Nov. 20, 2011, at the Christian Life Center, in Thomasville, N.C., by Pastor Richard Brown. A graveside service was held Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at the Salisbury National Cemetery, in Salisbury, N.C., with military honors by the Lyerly Honor Guard.

ROBERT EASTMAN

GROTON — Robert Roosevelt “Bob” Eastman, 79, died on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Groton Dec. 8, 1932. Bob was the second youngest of 12 children born to Roger and Sarah Crocker (Lawton) Eastman. Bob graduated from the Groton High School with the class of 1950.

Bob served with U.S. Army during the Korean War from March 11, 1953, until he was honorably discharged on Feb. 28, 1961.

KATHLEEN SIMPSON

FERRISBURGH — Actress, dancer, and teacher Kathleen McLean Simpson, 93, passed away on Nov. 15, 2012. She leaves numerous theatre credits to her name from 1937 to 1995. Her 1947 Broadway debut and most notable role was as Mary Skinner, in “Life With Father” — the longest-running non-musical show on Broadway.

JOYCE HENDERSON

RIPTON — Joyce Graham Henderson of Ripton died in Burlington, Vt., early on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at the age of 60. She was born in Arlington, Va., the daughter of Donald Graham Henderson and Alaine Marsh Henderson, longtime residents of Alexandria, Va. Joyce and her husband, William B. Pierce have been residents of Ripton for the past 27 years, owning and operating the Chipman Inn until this September. She was Ripton’s assistant town clerk, and served several terms on the Regional Planning Commission.

GUY HOAGUE

PANTON — Guy C. “Lucky” Hoague, 71, of Panton, passed away Nov. 13, 2012, at Fletcher Allen hospital surrounded by his family and friends, after a long illness. He was born in Swanton, on Feb. 1, 1941, the son of George Sr. and Glendora (Levick) Hoague.

On July 11, 1970, he married Ella M. (Jerome) in Crown Point, N.Y.

Lucky worked as a contractor for many years, as well as in logging and farming. Nothing meant more to him than his grandchildren, Cody, Channler, Chase, Ryan, Abby and Max.

EDMOND PROVOST

 

BRANDON — Edmond Noel Provost, 88, died Nov. 13, 2012, at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury.

He was born in Winooski on Dec. 25, 1923. He was the son of Alphonse and Emma (Poirier) Provost.

He grew up in Winooski. He later made his home with the Beaudin family in Burlington for several years. In his earlier years he worked in a sawmill and at other various jobs in the Burlington area. He was a resident of Brandon since 2007.

LISA BURT

ORWELL—Lisa Kim Burt, 51, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at her home in Orwell.

She was born August 21, 1961, in Middlebury, the daughter of Edson and Janice (Sperry) Burt. She grew up in Sudbury where she received her early education. She was graduated of Otter Valley Union High School, class of 1979.

She had resided in Norton, Mass., for 25 years. She returned to Vermont several years ago and worked as a care provider in the Orwell area. She enjoyed horses and horseback riding.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
