Ken Jackman

PACIFIC GROVE, Calif. — Ken Jackman died peacefully at home in Pacific Grove, Calif. Nov. 1, 2010. He was 94.
Born in Lincoln, Vt., Dec. 3, 1916, he graduated from Middlebury College. He immediately joined the Navy as a pilot. After suffering a career-ending hand injury, he was sent to the Naval Hospital in Newport, R.I., where he met his wife, Eleanor.

Kim Jacobs

MIDDLEBURY — Kim M. Jacobs, 43, died peacefully on Nov. 29, 2010, in the loving arms of her family after a long hard-fought battle with diabetes and renal disease.
A memorial service to celebrate Kim’s life will be conducted Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at 3 p.m. at Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home, 117 South Main St., Middlebury, with the Rev. William R. Beaudin, pastor, St. Mary’s Church, officiating. Friends may call from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home. Immediately following the memorial service there will be a reception.

Theodore Krampitz

WILLISTON — Theodore J. Krampitz, 90, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, at Birchwood Terrace Healthcare in Burlington.
The funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Middlebury Cemetery.
He was born on May 19, 1920, in Vergennes, the son of James E. and Matilda (Nichols) Krampitz.
He served in WWII attached to the 489th Bombardment Squadron Division of the U.S. Air Force. He had worked at the Addison Independent as an advertising manager.

Rudolph "Bumpa" Laraia

MIDDLEBURY — Rudolph A. “Bumpa” Laraia, 91, of Middlebury died peacefully in the loving presence of his daughter on Nov. 24, 2010. For the past two years, Rudy was a resident of The Haven, a remarkable memory care unit of The Lodge at Otter Creek, where the staff became extended family and other residents close friends.

William Rose

VERGENNES — William Howard Rose, 64, of Vergennes died peacefully on Nov. 28, 2010, after a 19-year battle with brain cancer. He fought the battle like the true soldier he always was.
Services to celebrate his life will be held at the Assembly of God Church, Route 7 in Ferrisburgh, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 15. Friends may call at Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes on Tuesday, Dec. 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery in Vergennes.

Anthony Salvadore Jr.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Anthony Salvadore Jr., 69, died in Charlotte, N.C., on Oct. 13, 2010, after a four-year battle with Lewy Body Dementia.
No formal funeral is scheduled and his remains will be buried in the family plot in Jamaica, Vt., in the spring of 2011.

James Dewire Jr.

BRANDON — James Edward Dewire Jr., 78, of Brandon died Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, at Porter Hospital in Middlebury.

A private funeral service will be held at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon at a later date. A private burial, with military honors, will take place in Forest Dale Cemetery.

He was born in Saranac Lake, N.Y., on April 23, 1932. He was the son of James and Mary (Plumley) Dewire Sr.

He was a resident of Brandon since 2000, having moved from Clearwater, Fla.

Surviving is a half-brother, Eugene Eber of Trenton, Fla., and his care provider, Helen Cram of Brandon.

Col. Robert Myersburg

NAPLES, Fla. — Col. Robert Myersburg, 93, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010, at his home in Naples. He was a summer resident of Lake Dunmore in Salisbury, Vt., his entire life.

He will be interred beside his wife and daughter at King David Memorial Gardens in Arlington, Va., on Tuesday, Nov. 30.

He was born Aug. 1, 1917, the son of Harry and Rose Meyersburg.

Clark Bell

BRISTOL — Clark W. Bell, 79, died Sunday Nov. 21, 2010, at home in Bristol with his family.
He was born in Starksboro on June 18, 1931, the son of the late Charles and Alma (Briar) Bell.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 27, at Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Bristol. Friends may call at Brown-McClay Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m.
He worked on several farms, and his last employer was Cedar Knoll Country Club.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
