Gail R. Corsi

NORTH CLARENDON — Gail R. Corsi, 65, of North Clarendon died Monday evening, Aug. 29, 2011, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington following an extended illness.

Born on July 9, 1946, in Rutland, the daughter of Sumner J. and Alice Rose (Carlisle) Page, Ms. Corsi grew up in North Clarendon and graduated from the Rutland High School in 1964. She worked for over 30 years for the United States Postal Service almost exclusively in her hometown post office in North Clarendon as a postal clerk, retiring in 2000.

Elaine Marie Dearborn

BRISTOL — Elaine Marie Dearborn, 59, died Aug. 23, 2011, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. She was born Jan. 6, 1952, the daughter of Ceylon and Gwen (Thompson) Dearborn.

She was a well-known character in the community. She could always be found riding her bike, out walking, or enjoying a cup of tea at the bakery in the company of her many friends. She was an active member of the “Pocock Entertainment Committee” — infamous for their zany, and sometimes jaw-dropping, floats in the annual Fourth of July parade.

Sharon D. Ducharme

BRISTOL — Sharon D. Ducharme, 48, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.

She was born Jan. 15, 1963, in Burlington, the daughter of Herbert and Gertrude Wheeler Baldwin.

Her family says she adored working with the elderly and handicapped children and she loved her animals.

NEW HAVEN — Keith L. Hall, 78, died due to complications of kidney failure, Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011, at the White River Veterans Hospital, in the presence of his loving family.

ORWELL — Lynn Maureen (O’Donnell) James, age 61, died early Saturday morning, Aug. 27, 2011, at her home in Orwell, following a long, courageous battle with breast cancer.

Anne C. Odom

MIDDLEBURY / WASHING-TON, D. C. — Anne C. Odom, 75, of Washington died Thursday, Aug. 25, at Fletcher Allen Hospital in Burlington, of complications from an Aug. 10 bus accident in Middlebury.

Ms. Odom received a B.A. from Middlebury College and an M.A. from Columbia University.

Margaret L. Peck

NEW HAVEN — Margaret L. Peck, longtime resident of New Haven, died at Starr Farm Nursing Home in Burlington on Aug. 26, 2011.

Born on July 20, 1930, in Rutland to George and Gladys (Scribner) Harvey, she married Charles Peck Sr. in 1946 and spent many years on the family dairy farm. Her family says she loved working on the farm and often talked about her gardens and life with her children.

Timothy Patrick Reilly

RIPTON — Timothy Patrick Reilly, 50, died Aug. 25, 2011, as a result of a stroke. He was born Aug. 25, 1961, in Syracuse, N.Y., the son of and Susan (Parzych) Reilly Kucera and second father Paul S. Kucera.

He was a graduate of Buffalo State College and worked at Middlebury College as the director of the ski school and member of the maintenance staff at the golf course. He also led many bicycle tours in the New England area.

John Walter Barnes

BRANDON — John Walter Barnes, 85, of Brandon died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, at Mountain View Center in Rutland.

He was born in Worcester, Mass., on Jan. 22, 1926. He was the son of John R. and Grace (Carey) Barnes. He came to Brandon with his family when he was 2 months old. He received his education in local Brandon schools.

He was a veteran of World War II and of Korea. He was honorably discharged as a sergeant in April 1955. He had also served in the Vermont State Guard prior to entering active service in World War II.

Marion N. Barnett

MIDDLEBURY — Marion N. Barnett, 101, died early Friday morning, Aug. 26, 2011, at Helen Porter Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Oct. 31, 1909, in Middlebury, the daughter of the late Edward and Bertha (Fales) Barnett.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
