BRANDON — Jacqueline Ann “Jackie” Brown, age 70, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, at the home of her son in Brandon.

RAYMOND COOK

NEW HAVEN — Raymond Cook, 75, of New Haven died peacefully surrounded by family at Porter Hospital on Jan. 1, 2015. 

He was born on Sept. 3, 1939, in Hubbardton, the son of Albert and Geraldine Cook.

He spent six years in the service and then his work career was split between carpentry and driving his truck. His family says he was an avid deer hunter and spent many years hunting the Vermont and Maine woods. He enjoyed playing cards and watching football.

DOEKE DAM

WEST FERRISBURGH — Doeke Dam, 79, of West Ferrisburgh died peacefully on Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at the Vermont Respite House in Williston.

He was born on Sept. 24, 1935, in Kollum, Friesland, in the Netherlands, to Beert and Ynskje (Abma) Dam. After elementary school and agricultural school, he worked for six months on a farm in France and for several years on his family’s farm. He married Wikje Roeda in Friesland in 1958, and one month later they immigrated to the United States (where Wikje changed her name to Wilma).

HARRIS LAROCQUE

RIPTON — Harris Eugene Larocque passed away Jan. 2, 2015, at his home in Ripton at the age of 67 after a long illness.

He was born Sept. 21, 1947, in Salisbury, son of Omer and Yvonne (Quenneville) Larocque. Harris graduated from MUHS in 1966. He started working at a young age on a dairy farm for Donald Goodrich in Salisbury. After several years of farming, Harris took a job at Middlebury College. He worked for 29 years in the meat cutting department before he was forced to retire in 2005 due to poor health.

C. WALLY SHONNARD

FERRISBURGH — C. Wally Shonnard died unexpectedly and peacefully with family by his side, on Jan. 4, 2015, at Ravensnest, the lakeside home in Ferrisburgh he has enjoyed for more than 35 years and where he also created a family business at which he worked, invented and lived a full and productive life.

JEANNINE BOLDUC

VERGENNES — Jeannine “Lucile” Bolduc, 94, of Vergennes died on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014, at Roscoe Care Home in Bristol.

She was born at home in St. Constant, Quebec, Canada, on April 11, 1920, the daughter of Hilaire and Laurentia (Boyer) Bolduc.

WILLIAM MCALLISTER

DAYTON, Ohio — William Wells McAllister, 92, of Dayton, Ohio, formerly of Middlebury, Vt., died Dec. 21, 2014.

He was born Aug. 27, 1922, in Elm Grove, Ohio, to Lina Grooms and Robert McAllister. He graduated from Piketon High School.

WINONA AUSTIN

BRISTOL — Winona Meilleur Austin, aged 96 of Bristol, Vermont, died peacefully on December 17, 2014, at her home in Waterford, Conn. Born November 22, 1918, she was the daughter of Vera and Louis Meilleur. After her mother’s death in 1926 she was raised by her grandfather and grandmother, Truman and Ida Varney.

JOAN COBB

LINCOLN — Joan M. Cobb, 74, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2014, at her home in Lincoln.

She was born May 8, 1940, the daughter of Israel and Grace Brink Blanchard.

She is survived by her two sons, William and Bruce Cobb; two daughters, Ann Kaumeyer and Rebecca Cook; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Dawn Cobb; a very special niece, Pam Michaud; and several other nieces and nephews.

WALTER ‘TJ’ DUNCANSON IV

SALISBURY — Walter W. “TJ” Duncanson IV, 14, died unexpectedly Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, at his residence.

Born Jan. 18, 2000, in Burlington, he was the son of Walter W. III and Alysia (Bushey) Duncanson.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid and free obituaries. Paid obituaries run just as submitted with a charge of $9.00 per column inch, and the editor shapes free obituaries to conform to our editorial style. We run photos of the person if they are submitted in a relatively high-quality format.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN - Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
