CHARLES B. CHAPMAN

MIDDLEBURY, Vt./NORWICH, Conn. — Graveside services for Charles B. Chapman, 89, who died April 9, 2015, in Middlebury, will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at 11 a.m. in Maplewood Cemetery in Norwich. The service, with military honors, will be led by the Rev. Jan Walden.

WANDA HOLBROOK

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Wanda Jean (Elzinga) Holbrook, aged 57, of Grand Rapids, was suddenly called to glory to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 7, 2015. She grew up in Addison County, Vt., and has relatives in the Vergennes, Vt., area.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gary and Julia Elzinga.

CHASE KVASNAK

LONDON — Chase John Kvasnak of London, England, died July 6, 2015.

He was born March 25, 1983, in Middlebury, Vt., brought up in St. Michaels, Md., and educated at Sts. Peter and Paul, Middlebury College, Lincoln College, Oxford and the London School of Economics.

At Oxford, he met the love of his life, Kryshna Popat.

After graduating from Middlebury in 2006 he spent several months in Durango, Colo., working with his father helping to build a family home.

H. CLIFTON RANDOLPH

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — H. Clifton Randolph, 68, of Saint Petersburg, FL, passed away on Sunday, July 5,after a courageous and lengthy battle with cancer. Clif is survived by his son, Scott (Sasha) of Powell River, BC; his daughter, Michelle (Aaron Hanna-Jones) of Tweed, ON; stepdaughter Tanya Carleton of Ottawa, ON., his grandchildren, Spencer and Samuel Randolph, Olivia Hanna-Jones, and Xander and Jackson Brunet; brother John Randolph (Darlene); nephew Clinton Randolph (Melanie) and niece Kelly Randolph; and special friend Lillian.

PATRICK EAGAN

CASTLETON — Patrick H. Eagan, 75, of Castleton passed away July 6, 2015, at home with family members at his side, following a courageous battle with cancer.

The son of Bernard and Louise Eagan, he was born in Rutland on March 1, 1940. He graduated from Fair Haven High School in 1957. He later graduated from the Community College of Vermont with an associate’s degree in business.

THARON HARRINGTON

EASTON, Md. — Tharon Electa Harrington, 93, died Feb. 5, 2015, at the Pines in Easton, Md.

She was born in Hartford, Conn., on March 24, 1921, the daughter of Charles and Albertina (Samson) McCabe. Her father was from Goshen, Vt., and Forest Dale, Vt.

She graduated from the University of Connecticut and later earned her master’s degree in teaching from Boston University. She married James Rickert Harrington on Feb. 22, 1947.

HELEN LATHROP

BRISTOL — Helen May Lathrop, 99, of Bristol passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at Helen Porter Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury.

She was born May 2, 1916, in Bristol, the daughter of Edwin and Huldana Fergueson.

She graduated from Bristol High School and she was active in alumni for many years. She was a member of Bristol Federated Church and she was a very active member of the Bristol Historical Society for many years. She worked into her 80s at the Shelburne Museum.

BRISTOL — Paul M. Marion, 48, of Bristol, died July 6, 2015. Cancer lost this battle as, when it took Paul’s life, it took its own and left Paul’s unwavering spirit to be surrounded by love and light eternally.

JOHN A. PHILLIPS III

LACEY’S SPRING, Ala. — John A Phillips III of Lacey’s Spring, Ala., passed away peacefully at his home on June 19, 2015, at the age of 81, with his family by his side. His battle with Alzheimer’s finally came to an end.

He was born June 9, 1934, in Middlebury, Vt., and was the son of John A. and Joy Phillips.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
