BRISTOL — A memorial service for Franklin Delano Hier of Bristol, who died Oct. 18, 2015, will be held 11:30 a.m. on Monday, June 6, at St. Ambrose Church in Bristol with a reception following the service in the basement of the church.

REBECCA LARRABEE

VERGENNES — Rebecca Mary Larrabee passed away at her home on May 14, 2016. She was born on June 2, 1928, to Guy and Rose (Hart) Blaise. On this day, Guy and Rose also had two other children born. Joining Becky were Robert and Roger Blaise. The babies were the first recorded set of triplets born in Vermont, each weighing in at over 6 pounds. as the family story has been told!

MARY ANN TURPIN

SHOREHAM — The graveside committal service and burial for Mary Ann Turpin, 77, who died Feb. 8, 2016, will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016, at 10 a.m. at St. Genevieve Cemetery in Shoreham.

Following the ceremony the family will receive friends at Brandon American Legion Post 55 for a time of remembrance.

MIDDLEBURY — A graveside service for Elizabeth “Betty” Warner, who died May 4, 2016, will be held on Friday, May 20, at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Middlebury. Immediately following, a Celebration of Life will take place at the American Legion in Middlebury from noon-3 p.m.

JIM BAKER

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — James Richard “Jim” Baker Jr., 75, died on May 10, 2016, at the Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro. He was born to James and Bernadette Baker on May 23, 1940, in Essex Junction. He served in the Army National Guard, Air Force (20 years) and IBM (15).

He is survived by daughter Lisa Many (Chris); sister Mary Alexander (Joe), brother Bill (Janice) and sister-in-law Shari, all of Bristol; and brother Don (Ginette).

He was predeceased by former spouses Donna in 1993 and Lorraine in 2014, brother Tom and step-grandson Timmy.

DAVID CLODGO

BRISTOL — David Michael Clodgo, 59, of Bristol passed peacefully on May 11, 2016, surrounded by his family.

David was born on Jan. 11, 1957, to Alfred Jr. and Lucille (Collette) Clodgo in Vergennes. They moved to Bristol and David graduated from Mount Abraham UHS in 1975.

Throughout the years, David worked for Drake & Smith, Bio-Tek Industries, and Supato Cheese.

David was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his friends and family. He had a kind heart and would do anything for anyone.

TOWNSEND SCUDDER JR.

MIDDLEBURY — Townsend “Towney” Scudder Jr., son of Townsend Scudder III and Virginia Boody Scudder, was born on Jan. 3, 1927, in New Haven, Conn., and passed away among loving family at the Haven at Otter Creek in Middlebury, Vt., on May 6, 2016.

A graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy and Yale University, he received his MBA from New York University. He served in World War II as a cadet-midshipman in The U.S. Merchant Marine Cadet Corps, first at Kings Point, then at sea in both the Atlantic and Pacific theatres of the war.

PATRICIA BAXTER

WALTHAM — Patricia A. Baxter, 86, of Waltham died peacefully on March 21, 2016, at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury.

Born in the Bronx, N.Y., on March 14, 1930, she was the daughter of Thomas and Margaret (Dolan) Cawley.

Her husband, John, whom she married in 1954, predeceased her in 1990.

BLANCHE DUFRESNE

BRIDPORT — Blanche Dufresne, 89, died May 4, 2016, at Porter Medical Center. Blanche was born Dec. 3, 1926, to Hervey and Cora (Gingras) Paquette.

Surviving Blanche are five children, Arthur Dufresne (Theresa) of Orange City, Fla., Edward Dufresne of Deland, Fla., Ann Stone (Dale) of Bridport, Jeanne Pedersen (Robert) of Summerville, S.C., and Kathleen Vancour (Miles) of Hannawa Falls, N.Y.; a sister, Cecile Booth of Pittsford; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

ROBERT FORREST

PITTSFORD — Robert Clifton Forrest, age 77, died Saturday, May 7, 2016, at the University of Vermont Medical Center.

Mr. Forrest was born in Brandon on Nov. 7, 1938. He was the son of Raymond and Elizabeth (Ryder) Forrest. He grew up in Brandon where he received his early education and attended Brandon High School. In his earlier years he was a woodsman having logged various areas of the state. In 1977 he moved to Pittsford and farmed for the next 30 years.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved animals.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
