ALLEN W. STILLMAN

Allen W. Stillman, of Suffield, Connecticut, formerly of Middlebury, Vermont, died on February 20, 2018.

Born to Lillian Shaw Hemrich and Forest Stillman on June 21, 1924, Allen grew up and graduated from high school in Pittsfield, Mass. He served as an aviation radioman in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946. He received his bachelor’s degree in English from Aurora University, his master’s degree in English from Syracuse University and his master’s degree in counseling from Queens College.

Dr. Bradbury Fuller, 61, Addison

ADDISON — Bradbury Fuller, 61, of Addison, Vt., died on Feb. 16, 2018. On the afternoon of Feb. 8, finishing work early and finding himself with a rare window of daylight, Brad persuaded his wife, Eileen, to meet him for a few runs at his favorite mountain, Mad River Glen. After enjoying an hour of fresh powder and catching the last chair, Brad headed for home a very happy man. Tragically, Brad suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm en route and was taken to UVM Medical Center where he died peacefully eight days later surrounded by his loving family.

Edgar (Ed) Volney Baker, 82, Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY — Edgar (Ed) Volney Baker, born Sept. 25, 1935, in Glens Falls, N.Y., passed away due to natural causes at age 82 on Feb. 17, 2018, in Middlebury, Vt. He was a resident of Monkton Ridge for 50 years. Ed graduated from SUNY Cobleskill. Ed served in the Army from 1956 to 1957. His professional career was at IBM Microelectrioncs in Essex Junction, Vt., where he was a Product  Security Analyst until his retirement in 1990, after 33 years of service. Ed was the loving husband of Edie for almost 60 years.

Nancy Lee Vincent Boyer, 71, Lyndonville

LYNDONVILLE — Nancy Lee Vincent Boyer a loving mother, grandmother and sister, passed away on Feb. 16, 2018, at the age of 71. She joined the Lord surrounded by her sons, her daughter holding her hand, along with her sisters Christine French and Sally Russell and brother-in-law guiding her to peace with God, at Pines Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Lyndonville, Vermont.

Mary Beth (Kurek) Brouillard, 48, Bristol

BRISTOL — Mary Beth (Kurek) Brouillard, 48, of Bristol, died on Feb. 20, 2018, of natural causes. She was born on July 3, 1969, in Middlebury Vermont, the daughter of Beverly (Decker) Kurek and Frank Kurek Sr.

She spent her last years here taking care of her grandchildren.

She was survived by children and spouses Tanya Hartman (Roberts), Kyle Hartman, Toni Roberts, Kayla-May Brouillard and son Ernie Brouillard Jr. A private celebration of life to be held at a later date.

Sherry A. Gibbs, 79, formerly of Cornwall

HAGUE, N.Y. — Sherry A. Gibbs, 79, of Hague, N.Y., and formerly of Cornwall, Vt., has gone to join her husband of 62 years, Walter “Bud” Gibbs, in heaven, after only a few months. Sherry passed away on Feb. 6, 2018, and Walter passed away on Nov. 9, 2017.

Sherry was born Sept. 22, 1938, in Los Angeles, Ca., the daughter of the late Arlene Bowen.

Sherry and Walter lived in Middlebury, Vt., and Cornwall, Vt., for most of their life before moving to Hague.

Betty Jayne (Brooks) Ireland, 93, Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY — Betty Jayne Ireland (“Rusty” for her auburn red hair), 93, died Monday morning, February 12, 2018, at the Residence at Otter Creek in Middlebury, Vermont, surrounded by her loving family.

Richard Raymond, 66, Monkton

MONKTON — Richard (Dick) O. Raymond passed away Feb. 19, 2018, after a long illness with Alzheimer’s at Birchwood Nursing Home in Burlington. He was born April 13, 1931 at home in North Ferrisburgh, the son of Elmer and Wilma (Giroux) Raymond.

WINFIELD H. MANNING

RIPTON — Winfield H. Manning, 77, died Thursday morning, Feb. 15, 2018, at Helen Porter Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury.

He was born March 24, 1940, in Middlebury, the son of William and Ida (Rosencrane) Manning.

Winfield worked for Desautel House Movers for over 30 years, and worked closely with Arro Design for the last 20 years on unique concrete and stone creations and tool fabrications. He enjoyed mechanical works and tinkering with things along with splitting wood and driving his tractor.

MARIAN S. (SUE) WALKER

BRIDPORT — Marian S. (Sue) Walker, 68, known to family and friends as “Sue,” lost her battle with cancer on Monday, Feb. 12, 2018.

She was born Aug. 16, 1949, to Michael and Dorothy Eskra. She obtained her education in Brattleboro, Vt., graduating from Brattleboro Union High School class of 1967 then attending Castleton State College. She married James Walker on Dec. 21, 1974.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
