Racine calls for recount

VERMONT — On Friday afternoon, the Vermont Secretary of State’s office released its eagerly awaited (but still unofficial) tally of the votes cast in Tuesday’s Democratic gubernatorial primary. Though the numbers won’t be certified until early next week, this count placed Peter Shumlin 197 votes ahead of runner-up Doug Racine.

Middlebury traffic patterns to change

MIDDLEBURY — Town officials on Thursday released a construction update stating that traffic patterns in downtown Middlebury would be changing between Friday, Aug. 27, through Friday, Sept. 3, to accommodate the completion of the roundabout and related paving.

The update stated that College Street would undergo paving and painting work for parking spaces between Friday, Aug. 27, and Monday, Aug. 30.
