WEYBRIDGE — Weybridge voters in March will be asked to approve a 2012-2013 elementary school spending plan of $970,277, representing a 14.55-percent decrease to reflect an ongoing trend of declining enrollment.
This is the third year in a row that Weybridge school directors are pitching a reduced budget. Local voters last year OK’d a $1,135,495 spending plan, which amounted to a 6.4-percent decrease compared to the previous year.
BRISTOL — Staff from The Hub teen center on Monday updated the Bristol selectboard on its data-recording project, increased enrollment and recent activity.
Hub Director Jim Lockridge and Bristol Recreation Director Darla Senecal also made the case for extending Hub assistant Ryan Krushenick’s hours. Krushenick — with a background in music — offers free music lessons at The Hub, helps oversee Hub activities and organizes events.
BRISTOL — Three members of the Bristol Conservation Commission — chair Dave Henderson, vice-chair Pete Diminico and Kristen Underwood — met with the Bristol selectboard on Monday to discuss a range of issues.
SALISBURY — The Vermont Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has officially ruled the Nov. 17 death of Gerald “Dusty” Woodburn, 52, of Salisbury, to have been a suicide, from a single gunshot to the head.
It was on Nov. 17 that Troopers Second Class Lewis Hatch and Kaitlyn Armstrong responded to Woodburn’s apartment on Lake Dunmore Road in Salisbury after receiving a 911 call from his girlfriend alleging a domestic disturbance.

Steve Hauschka, Middlebury 2007, is the placekicker for Seattle and is having an outstanding season. He has converted 22 of 26 field goal attempts (two over 50 yards) and all 30 of his extra points.
BRANDON — On Tuesday at Otter Valley Union High School, the Mount Abraham Union High School girls’ basketball team improved to 3-0 by defeating the Otters, 36-33.
Two of the Eagles’ three wins have followed Tuesday’s template: They have gotten out to big leads, but needed key fourth-quarter baskets to pull out victories.
MIDDLEBURY — Some Middlebury College graduates go on to gain acclaim in science, medicine and politics. On Sunday, one recent graduate stormed to fame on longtime CBS reality TV show “Survivor.”
Sophie Clarke of Willsboro, N.Y., graduated from the college in May and is currently enrolled at the Mount Sinai College of Medicine in New York City. On Sunday, when the final episode of “Survivor: South Pacific” aired, Clarke beat out the two other finalists and claimed the $1 million prize.
VERGENNES — Vergennes police issued two citations to the driver of a car that struck a woman on Main Street on Dec. 12, hospitalizing her. Police said the woman was taken to Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington and is recovering from surgery to repair a broken leg.
Cited was Jennifer Goodspeed, 28, of Vergennes, for gross negligent operation of a motor vehicle and for failure to maintain liability insurance.
