Vergennes gears up for Saturday's Holiday Stroll

VERGENNES — The Little City of Vergennes will be in full holiday spirit at the annual Holiday Stroll this Saturday, Dec. 1. Participants will enjoy a festive collection of activities ranging from a breakfast with Santa Claus at the VUHS cafeteria to the annual Winter Craft Fair at Vergennes Union Elementary School, to a stroll down Main Street ringing bells and singing songs with Santa and his elves.

Middlebury town plan decision deferred

MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury selectboard on Tuesday tabled a decision on whether to advance the community’s updated town plan to a final vote in wake of a new, proposed tweak in language and the absence of two board members.

The board was scheduled to decide whether to close the public hearing phase on the document and then move on to a ratification vote to Tuesday, Dec. 12; or call for another public hearing to entertain any new substantive changes.

Bristol woman struck by car, killed as she crosses street

BRISTOL — A tragic one-car accident at the intersection of North Street and Park Place in Bristol on Saturday evening claimed the life of an 86-year-old pedestrian, Ann Roscoe of Bristol.

Bristol police responded to the scene at approximately 5:51 p.m. on Nov. 24. Roscoe was transported to Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, where she died later that evening, according to a press release from the Bristol Police Department.

Ashley Nancollas, 19, of Bristol, was operating the car. No charges have been filed.

Dental center planned at Bristol Works

BRISTOL — Organizers of  a proposed Addison County Dental Center have applied for $300,000 in Vermont Community Development Program funds to equip a new facility that would provide dental care to people of all income levels in a new office in the Bristol Works industrial park off Pine Street.

“If we get the grant, we know we will be able to go forward and it will be full speed ahead,” said Peg Martin, a leader of the Addison County Dental Center effort.

Holiday Show returns to Town Hall Theater with local fine arts

MIDDLEBURY — The Jackson Gallery will be filled with art and fine crafts once again through the holiday season. Honoring the fifth year of this annual show, an invitation went out to all previous exhibitors. Twenty-seven regional artists will be presenting work in a wide variety of media. All have been recognized for their individual approaches to style, design and image, making this exhibit a true celebration of local talent.
