ARTIST VITO ACCONCI came to Middlebury College in 1983 and built his first permanent commission, “Way Station,” which was located near where Bicentennial Hall now stands. The piece was vandalized and destroyed in 1985, but it has been replicated in a new location behind the Mahaney Center for the Arts.
