ADDISON — Recent flooding and high water levels on Lake Champlain have put a crimp in the construction of the new bridge linking West Addison to Crown Point, New York, though transportation officials said they are still driving for an Oct. 9 opening for the $70 million span.

“We have had to contend with the flood conditions and they have had an impact on our progress,” said John Grady, construction engineer for the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT).

ADDISON — Addison residents will join their Vergennes counterparts on May 17 in deciding the fate of Addison Northwest Supervisory Union unification.

Petitions in both those communities triggered revotes of Town Meeting Day tallies in favor of a plan in which one 12-member board would own and operate the four ANwSU schools.

Voters in Ferrisburgh, Panton and Waltham joined Addison and Vergennes in backing the plan, but the results were not petitioned in those towns.

ADDISON — Addison planners on Feb. 21 agreed to recommend to selectmen that changes to town zoning made last summer be reversed, at least until the planning commission goes over them again and warns them publicly.

Planners also said the changes made to setbacks and waiver procedures late last summer and early last fall reflected their work and intent, and were not, as some citizens had alleged, made by selectboard chairman Jeff Kauffman, then the zoning administrator.
