BRISTOL — A week before Bristol’s annual Fourth of July parade the hills are alive with the sound of music.

And sawing and hammering and painting.

BRISTOL — What began as a simple maintenance call devolved into a giant headache for about 100 water customers in Bristol last week.

After an old valve broke near the intersection of Pine Street and Taylor Avenue, water service in the immediate area was temporarily shut off for repairs on Wednesday. Taps flowed again by 6:30 that evening.

The town advised affected customers to boil their water until further notice. The order was lifted late Friday afternoon. According to Town Clerk Jen Myers, coliform tests came back negative; the water is safe to drink.

Former professional mountain biker Ali Zimmer was excited to see more kids and adults get a chance to get on their two-wheelers and pedal around a new “pump track” that was recently constructed on the Bristol Recreation Field adjacent to Mount Abraham Union High School. A pump track is a dirt trail on which mountain bikers roll up and over little hillocks and banked turns designed in such a way as to enable the rider to create momentum by pumping their body up and down and thus keep forward momentum with little pedaling.
