CORNWALL — Only a few months after settling the longstanding question of what to do with the old Lavalley store building (it will be removed), Cornwall citizens must now consider the future of another historic structure: School house No. 5, located on South Bingham Street.

The old school building, currently unused, needs roof repairs, according to Cornwall Road Foreman Stu Johnson.

Officials are considering whether shingles, slate or some other material should be used in repairing or replacing the roof.

CORNWALL — The Cornwall selectboard is circulating a community-wide survey in hopes of settling the future of the town-owned Lavalley Store building once and for all at next March’s town meeting.

The Lavalley building is a circa-1880s structure located next to the Cornwall Town Hall. It was used for decades as a store and as a residence before being vacated and donated to the town by the Lavalley family in 2001.

CORNWALL — Route 30 has always been a popular road for cyclists and joggers wanting to mix exercise with an appreciation of breathtaking vistas.
