Middlebury Police Log: Man cited for domestic assault

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police cited Hunter Quesnel, 22, of Middlebury for domestic assault, following an alleged incident at an Airport Road home on March 29.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

•Were informed of the theft of a bottle of liquor for Hannaford’s Supermarket on March 25.

•Served a temporary restraining order on a local man on March 25.

•Checked on a report of people arguing in a parking lot off Court Street Extension on March 25. Police said the people had left upon their arrival.

Vermont State Police log: Driver nearly hits police cruiser

ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police on Sunday tagged a Williston man for dangerous driving after he allegedly nearly hit the trooper’s vehicle.

On March 31 at 11 p.m. a state police officer saw a red 2019 Jeep Cherokee travelling northbound on Route 7 in Ferrisburgh. Police said the jeep passed another vehicle on a curve and nearly struck a trooper travelling southbound on Route 7 head-on.

Bristol Police Log: Kids accused of trespassing

BRISTOL — On March 13, Bristol police arrested three juveniles after receiving a trespassing complaint.

The case will be handled in a confidential process of the juvenile justice system.

Between March 11 and 24, Bristol police assisted Vermont State Police five times, Bristol Fire Department once and Vergennes police once.

Officers in the Bristol department completed 33 foot patrols and more than seven hours of car patrols in various parts of town, some of which were part of the Governor’s Highway Safety Program.

Vergennes Police Log: Police say one man hit another who was holding a baby

VERGENNES — Vergennes police cited a man on March 18 for assaulting another man who was carrying an infant in a car seat at the time.

Police allege that Michael Parie Jr., 22, who had an address at a John Graham Shelter apartment in the city, grabbed the victim by the neck and punched him in the face. Police cited Parie for simple assault and released him. Police said they believed a dispute over finances triggered the alleged assault.

Middlebury Police Log: Theft of marijuana reported

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police on March 21 were informed of the alleged theft of “a small amount of marijuana” from an out-building at a Case Street property.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

•Met on March 19 with a local resident who was allegedly showing signs of possible mental health crisis.

•Assisted Vermont Adult Protective Services with a visit to a Valley View home on March 19.

Vermont State Police for Mar. 28

ADDISON COUNTY — On March 20 between 11 a.m. and noon troopers from the New Haven barracks of the Vermont State Police conducted a saturation patrol on Leicester Whiting Road in Leicester. This patrol was in response to a request from a utility company working in the area to slow traffic in the work zone.

During the patrol, police stopped one vehicle and issued one traffic ticket for driving with a suspended license.

Bristol Police Log for Mar. 28

BRISTOL — Between Feb. 25 and March 10, Bristol police assisted Vermont State Police twice and Vergennes police once.

Officers in the Bristol department completed 33 foot patrols and more than five hours of car patrols in various parts of town, some of which were part of the Governor’s Highway Safety Program.

Bristol officers checked security at Mount Abraham Union High School 10 times, processed nine requests for fingerprints and completed one business check in the town.

Vergennes Police Log: Police say man pointed a gun at cop

VERGENNES — A Ferrisburgh man is facing charges after pointing a weapon at a Vergennes police officer last week.

Police cited James Amblo, 40, who has a Route 7 address in Ferrisburgh, with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following a March 12 incident.

A city officer was responding to a report of a dispute between a landlord (Amblo) and a tenant on that day. The officer was getting out of his vehicle when Amblo allegedly walked out of the building and leveled a shotgun at him.

Middlebury Police Log: Woman cited for spitting incident

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police issued several citations on March 14 to a woman they described as homeless following a confrontation with police at the Charter House on North Pleasant Street, during which among other things police allege the woman spat on a police officer.

Police on March 14 cited Kristy Many, 26, whose last address was in Middlebury, for simple assault, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and assaulting a law enforcement officer with bodily fluids.

Vermont State Police: Two men get DUI-2 charges on local roads

ADDISON COUNTY — In the past week Vermont State Police operating out of the New Haven barracks cited two men in separate incidents for driving under the influence, second offense.

In the first incident, troopers on March 14 at a little before 6:30 p.m. stopped a motor vehicle on Route 7 in Ferrisburgh after observing a violation. Troopers identified the driver as 69-year-old Morris Ellison of Ferrisburgh. While speaking with Ellison, police detected several signs of impairment, screened him and cited Ellison for DUI-2.
