Middlebury Police Log: Local man cited for aggravated assault

MIDDLEBURY – Middlebury police cited Matthew L. Husk, 30, of Ferrisburgh on Nov. 11 for second-degree aggravated domestic assault, following an alleged incident at a Sugarwood Court residence. Police said Husk was lodged at the Addison County Sheriff’s Department lockup for lack of $5,000 bail.

Bristol Police Log: Thefts, car collisions and fights investigated

BRISTOL — In the past two weeks, Bristol police have dealt with a variety of incidents, including ones involving unruly citizens, thefts and sick people and animals.

During the period Bristol police:

  On Oct. 31 received a report that a credit card was stolen and used at two banks in the village.

Vergennes Police Log: City police answer routine calls

 VERGENNES — Vergennes police dealt with motor vehicle accidents, verbal domestic disputes, and one case of threats made over the phone in a relatively quiet week between Oct. 31 and Nov. 6.

In those seven days, Vergennes police:

  Early in the morning on Monday, Oct. 31, saw two people run between homes on West Main and Union streets and tried unsuccessfully to find them.

Middlebury Police Log: Man cited with 'ecstasy' possession

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police cited Binh Tat, 20, of Worcester, Mass., for possession and distribution of the drug “ecstasy,” following a stop for speeding on Court Street on Nov. 2. Upon questioning, police said Tat admitted to having smoked marijuana earlier that evening. Police said their search of the vehicle revealed a jar, concealed in the gas cap, containing approximately four ounces of ecstasy. Police said Tat was lodged at the Addison County Sheriff’s Department on $2,500 bail.

Vermont State Police Log: DUI, drug calls keep police busy

ADDISON COUNTY — In the past week or so, Vermont State Police charged area residents with a variety of crimes, including possession of drugs or stolen property and driving under the influence. In recent activity, troopers have:

On Nov. 2 at 1:40 a.m. stopped a car on North Street in New Haven and ended up citing Adam Josey, 24, of Richmond for driving under the influence. Police said his blood alcohol content was 0.104 percent; the legal limit for driving is 0.08 percent.

Vergennes Police Log: Police look into two fraud cases

VERGENNES —Vergennes police recently investigated two cases of fraud, one of which resulted in a $400 loss and the other involving a laptop purchase.

On Oct. 27, police were told by a downtown store employee that the employee had told a resident to stop sending money to a company that had promised the resident a $2.5 million prize. The resident had already sent away $400 before being advised to stop.

Middlebury Police Log: Sexual abuse case under investigation

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police responded to a report on Oct. 26 that some minor children might have been sexually abused at a Weybridge Street residence. The matter remains under investigation, police said.

  Received a report on Oct. 24 that four rings had been stolen from a Mountain View Lane residence.

Vermont State Police Log: Copper target of camp break-in

ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police are investigating a burglary at a camp on the Upper Notch Road in Bristol that occurred between the end of August and Oct. 26. There was a substantial amount of damage done to the residence. Sgt. James Hogan said there appears to be a connection between this incident and other burglaries in that area where copper tubing was targeted. The camp on Upper Notch Road was broken into in February of this year and all the copper tubing was taken.

Vergennes Police Log

VERGENNES — Vergennes police cited two women in the aftermath of a late-afternoon Oct. 17 fight on North Green Street that police said was triggered by a dispute over a mutual male friend.

Police said the two women — Amanda Plankey, 21, of Bristol and Korey Koch, 22, of Vergennes — were both yelling at each other and hit each other in the face “several times” before they were separated.
