Vermont State Police Log: Man cited for DUI, illegal firearm

ADDISON COUNTY— This past Friday evening at around 6 p.m. Vermont State Police saw a motor vehicle violation and stopped the car on Route 7 in Ferrisburgh. While Troopers spoke with the driver, identified as 30-year-old Justin Gaboriault of West Rutland, police detected signs of impairment. After Gaboriault performed standard filed sobriety tests, troopers arrested him on suspicion that he was driving under the influence.

Bristol Police Log: Man cited for assault, burglary

BRISTOL — On July 6 Bristol police arrested Yohanan Svitavsky, 30, of Bristol, for burglary, assault, obstruction of justice and reckless endangerment.

Through investigation police said they determined that Svitavsky and another person entered the dwelling of an acquaintance and assaulted the occupant.

Svitavsky was lodged at the Chittenden County Correctional Center, arraigned July 9 and held without bail.

The incident remains under investigation.

Vergennes Police Log: Officers persuade naked man with bike to get dressed

VERGENNES — Late this past Saturday Vergennes police dealt with a man who they said admitted drinking too much and was arguably wearing too little: He was naked when they first encountered him outside a First Street home.

City police responded to a call late on Saturday saying there was a naked man with a bicycle on Panton Road. When they arrived they found the man unclothed in a First Street yard. He then, police said, went onto the home’s porch and put on a pair of shoes.

Man cited for burglary, threatening witness in Leicester

LEICESTER — A Woodstock man was lodged on $10,000 bail on Wednesday, July 18, after allegedly using a two-by-four to threaten a woman while breaking into a home off Route 7.

Vermont State Police cited 31-year-old Samuel Olds for unlawful mischief, burglary of an occupied dwelling and disorderly conduct in connection with the alleged incident, for which he was arraigned on July 19.

Vermont State Police Log: Road rage results in multiple charges

ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police charged a Brandon man with two counts of domestic assault, unlawful mischief and committing a crime in the presence of a child, following a road rage incident in Sudbury on Monday evening.

Troopers were dispatched to  Burr Pond Road in Sudbury at around 10:05 p.m. on July 16, and determined that Brennan Potter, 26, had attempted to run another car, containing two members of his family, off the road. A child in that car sustained minor injuries, and an unspecified victim sustained property damage exceeding $250.

Middlebury Police Log: Assault citation is part of busy week

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police cited Ricky Lawrence, 26, of Middlebury for simple assault, following an alleged incident in the North Pleasant Street area on July 11.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

•  Assisted with traffic control after a large tree limb had fallen across East Main Street on July 10.

•  Helped Middlebury Regional EMS with a man who had suffered either a medical crisis or an emotional breakdown on Storrs Avenue on July 10. Police said the man was taken to Porter Hospital.

Vergennes Police Log: Illegal driving, threats are among city incidents

VERGENNES — Vergennes police between July 9 and 16 dealt with incidents that included driving with suspended licenses (DLS), reports of erratic driving, an alleged assault, a missing persons report, and threatening behavior.

In the course of the week police also four times helped motorists locked out of their vehicles, on Hillside Drive, East Street and Monkton Road and in the Shaw’s Supermarket parking lot.

Vermont State Police Log: Man cited for sexual assault in Ferrisburgh

ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police last week cited a New York man for sexual assault, arising from an incident in North Ferrisburgh.

On June 20 state police detectives assigned to the Bureau of Criminal Investigations were notified of a sexual assault complaint in North Ferrisburgh. During the course of investigation, which included a number of interviews, police determined that on two occasions Aaron Candido, 45, of St. Johnsville, N.Y., sexually assaulted a victim who was unresponsive following medical events.

Middlebury Police Log: Power tool stolen on Creek Road

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police investigated a burglary at a shed off Creek Road on July 5.

Police said someone forced their way into the shed to steal a Dewalt drill with charger and two batteries. Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call police at 388-3191.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

•  Responded to a report of a verbal argument between a man and woman in the Marble Works shopping complex on July 2.

•  Served a stalking prevention order on a man in the Wilmar Road area on July 2.

Vergennes Police Log: Police return dog frightened by fireworks

VERGENNES — Vergennes police on July 4 went off the beaten track to help a dog owner retrieve a pet that had fled from a Comfort Hill home when frightened by holiday fireworks.

Police received a call that a possibly injured dog was behind the Otter Creek falls, and an officer climbed over rocks and behind the falls to help calm the animal and reunite it with its owner.
