FERRISBURGH — The Ferrisburgh selectboard on Dec. 15 postponed until Jan. 5 its decision whether to hire the Vergennes Police Department or the Addison County Sheriff’s Department to provide supplemental police coverage and/or traffic enforcement in addition to Vermont State Police.

VSP would remain the primary responder to crime and other incidents in the town, unless the board hired Vergennes or the sheriff’s department for full protection on a part-time basis; during those hours that agency would receive 911 calls directly.

FERRISBURGH — Plans call for the long-awaited traffic light at the Ferrisburgh intersection of Route 7 and Little Chicago Road to be operational some time next fall, according to an email from Rep. Diane Lanpher, D-Vergennes, read at Tuesday’s Ferrisburgh selectboard meeting.

Town officials had lobbied for such a light for years and were informed in March 2013 that the Agency of Transportation was working on the project. That summer VTrans officials told the selectboard that a 2016 timetable was realistic.

FERRISBURGH — In addition to hearing from Addison County Sheriff Don Keeler, the Ferrisburgh selectboard heard about a possible solution to a recent complaint about dangerous driving in town.
