Salisbury kids are working with Rotary Club on service projects

MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury Rotary Club has spent many decades helping others, whether it be picking up trash on Green Up Day or helping to eradicate polio from the face of the Earth. The club has historically drawn membership from some of the best and brightest on the local business scene.

SALISBURY — Candidates for town offices are reminded that their signed petitions must be received in the Town Office on or before 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 29. If you are unable to come to the Office during regular hours you may leave your petition in the drop box located on the front door. Petitions must have nine signatures of registered voters. You should have several extra signatures in case not all are registered voters.

Assault alleged in Salisbury

SALISBURY — A Salisbury man on Tuesday pleaded innocent in Addison Superior Court’s criminal division to four charges — including an alleged felony aggravated domestic assault — in connection with an incident at a Colorado Circle home during the early evening of Jan. 11.

The allegations against John Foshea, 48, also include felony unlawful restraint, felony unlawful mischief and misdemeanor interference with access to emergency services.

SALISBURY — The Salisbury Public Library will hold an Art and Chocolate Show and Sale on Saturday, Feb. 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Contact Kathy Clarke at 802- 352-4471, or Barbara Andres at 802-352-6671, if you wish to participate.

Librarian Ruth Bernstein will hold a valentine workshop  for children on Friday, Feb. 9, from 3 to 5 p.m.

The library trustees would like to thank the anonymous donor of the two lovely wreaths for the Town Hall doors.

Town meeting resolutions target climate change

Arguing that the state is falling behind in its effort to combat climate change, activists are pushing to get the issue before Town Meeting Day voters this year.

The Burlington-based group 350Vermont says it has petitions underway in at least 30 towns to put a climate resolution on town meeting agendas. Two of those 30 towns are in Addison County: Cornwall and Salisbury.

Salisbury seeks funds for town hall work

SALISBURY — Salisbury residents on Town Meeting Day will be asked to start a savings account to fund future repairs to their town hall in hopes of getting the historic structure capable of hosting larger community functions.

SALISBURY — The Salisbury Community School has 27 pairs of snowshoes that families may borrow on the weekends. Suggested donation is $5 a pair. Contact Ms. Sylvestri in the school library to reserve your pairs.

The school also has funds available to help families purchase winter clothing for their children. Contact the school at 802-352-4291.

School will be closed Monday, January 15 for the Martin Luther King holiday.

SALISBURY — The Conservation Commission has acquired two wildlife cameras for use by Salisbury folk. The cameras can be mounted on a tree or a post on your property and record activity 24 hours a day. During daylight hours the images will be in color and at night in black and white; the cameras also contain an SD card. The cameras are available through the Salisbury Public Library and may be signed out for two weeks. Library hours are Tuesdays from 3-6 p.m., Thursdays 2-5 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m.-noon.
