MIDDLEBURY — Homeward Bound, Addison County’s Humane Society, is seeking volunteers to provide in-home care for shelter animals. They currently have short and long-term fostering opportunities for dogs, cats, and kittens.

Foster homes are used by the humane society when animals are in need of extra attention and care.  Some examples include animals that are too young for adoption, animals that require socialization to prepare them for adoption and animals that require medical care in a home environment to ready them for adoption.

ADDISON COUNTY — In response to the deadly school shooting in Florida on Valentine’s Day, and the inaction of lawmakers to take steps to curb gun violence, several local schools are planning protests this Wednesday, to coincide with national school walkouts.

The Mount Abraham Student Activism club at Mount Abraham Union High School in Bristol has planned a protest at the Bristol town park from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday. The event is student-led, but all members of the community are welcome to come and protest gun violence in America.

Jan Demers: Homelessness tool — we were skeptical

Posted on March 12, 2018 |
By Jan Demers

Demars, Jan ONLINE 2015.jpg

This safe space also offers an opportunity for connection to resources for those who are experiencing homelessness. Black Panther— Running Time: 2:14 — Rating: PG-13

“Black Panther” is technically superb.  It is also uninterruptedly violent.  With apologies to the gifted team that made this movie, I’m troubled by the degree of physical violence that will be seen by millions of people.  Here’s to the first person who makes a movie as good as this one where enemies outwit each other with their brains instead of their weapons.
