BRISTOL — The ongoing revitalization of Bristol’s industrial park took a big leap forward this week with confirmation that the campus will soon welcome a substantial local physicians’ practice and a new pharmacy.

Porter Medical Center officials on Monday reported that Bristol Internal Medicine (BIM), now located at 6 Park Place, will relocate this summer to a soon-to-be-renovated, 7,680-square-foot vacancy in the Bristol Works complex at the corner of Munsill Avenue and Pine Street.

MIDDLEBURY — Hendy Bros. earlier this month began another chapter in its 54-year history of supplying Addison County farms and residents with agricultural equipment.

The family-owned company has merged with Giroux Bros. Equipment of Plattsburgh and Malone, N.Y. The merger has prompted Hendy Bros to switch its name to Mountain View Equipment, but the only other change customers will notice is better, quicker access to a broader inventory of merchandise, according to owners Mike Hendy and his sister, Judy Austin.

SHOREHAM — In the burgeoning homegrown Vermont wine market Shoreham Winery is the newest player.

But the business, which acquired its commercial winery license last year and debuted at this fall’s Tour de Farms bike event, has been percolating for seven years now, ever since owner Greg Borah planted his first vines.

“You plant the grapes and then you realize, ‘In three years’ time, I’m going to have a harvest. I’d better know what to do with it,’” Borah said.

Briggs-bookstore-closes.jpg

BRANDON — The polished but ancient wood floors creaked with familiarity last Saturday as old friends and customers stopped by the Briggs Carriage Bookstore in downtown Brandon one last time.

Erin Keyes, 18, considers Briggs an integral part of her life. Having grown up in Brandon, some of Keyes’s earliest memories are set in the bookstore.

“Just seeing something I’ve grown up with end, it’s like part of my childhood going away,” she said, as she sat in the bench nook of the children’s section with her mom, Laura King.
